The woman in the veil introduces herself as Aunt Josephine. She demands an audience with Leanne and consoles Dorothy to face the truth, making her think Jericho is not going to come back. Josephine shows Leanne the Betamax tape which depicts the ritual of purifiying the astray souls like Leanne, ultimately leading to death. She also locks Sean to prevent his interference while Dorothy loses her hope for Jericho and locks herself too. Josephine fairly warns Leanne and makes her pray to God for forgiving her sins. Also, she instructs her to promise God for forgetting Dorothy which Leanne disobeys to and tries to escape but Josephine throws a liquid on her eyes, temporarily blinding her. Still, Leanne struggles to get out of the house while Josephine stabs herself with a spoon. As Josephine has locked the entire house, Leanne hides in the basement where she prays to God and as a result, Sean’s door unlocks. Dorothy, now determined to take her life and reunite with her son, is interrupted by Sean. Josephine finds Leanne in the basement and attempts to kill her but Dorothy knocks her down, saving Leanne. Leanne promises Dorothy to bring back Jericho while the latter leaves to get Sean. Meanwhile, Josephine abruptly gets up and strangles Leanne but the latter takes her veil off in the struggle, revealing her half-burnt face and pokes a heated iron dagger in her eye. Dorothy arrives with Sean only to find both Leanne and Josephine disappeared. While Dorothy is assured Leanne is gone to bring Jericho, Sean decides to tell her about the real Jericho’s death that suddenly they hear Leanne singing poems on the baby monitor. They rush into Jericho’s room, finding Leanne with the baby. They reunite and Leanne declares the Turners her family, deciding to stay. In her room, Leanne talks to herself that the darkness growing in her, hence her rebellious actions, is meant to be while the lights off in the whole neighbourhood. It is revealed that Leanne burnt Josephine and hid her body inside the hollow wall in her room, declaring a war with the cult by doing so.
