As Cate and Sam attempt to free captives and lead them in a violent uprising against non-Supes on the Godolkin University campus, a series of revelations culminate in a chaotic turn of events
Gen V - S01E08 - Guardians of Godolkin

Original release date: November 3, 2023

While Vought CEO Ashley Barrett meets with Godolkin University’s trustees on how to spin Luke’s suicide, Cate and Sam return to the Woods to free the remaining captives before leading them in killing non-Supes across campus. As Marie, Jordan, and Emma attempt to contain the chaos, Marie demonstrates increased mastery of her powers. Sam suffers hallucinations of Luke, who tells him to stop and reveals how he died, but Sam ignores him and allows Cate to destroy his ability to feel emotions. Andre learns that Polarity’s seizure was the result of brain damage caused by his powers before receiving the Polarity mantle to help fight the rampaging Supes. Cate tries to brainwash Jordan, but Marie detonates Cate’s arm before Homelander arrives and attacks Marie, accusing her of “attacking her own kind”. Sometime later, Marie, Jordan, Emma, and Andre awaken in a sealed hospital room at an unknown location and learn they were framed for Sam and Cate’s attack while the pair are hailed as the “Guardians of Godolkin”. Meanwhile, Billy Butcher investigates the Woods’ ruins.

[Marie] Fuck.

[Emma] Why didn’t I fucking help her?

Holy shit, she fucking killed her.

[multiple voices overlapping]

[Sam] She tortured us! She tortured us!

[Marie] Cate, holy shit!

She killed a guy. We all killed someone. Oh, my God.

[Jordan] She’s fucking crazy.

[Emma] Can we help her? What?

Why didn’t you let me save her?

[Marie] What the fuck did you do?!

[voices distort and fade]

Okay, look, let’s all just calm down a-and assess the situation.

The situation’s bleeding all over the fucking rug.

We just… we have to figure out what to do now.

You murdered her.

Marie, I did this for you.

I did this for all of you.

When I’m done, maybe eventually you’ll realize I’m being a hero.

I want to be a hero, too.

Of course, Sam.

Leave him alone.

Shetty sucked.

I’m not an experiment.

What are you gonna do, Cate?

We are gonna free The Woods.

Sam, don’t go with her.

[Sam] This is about you, too.

If they find out what happened here,

I’m not gonna be the only one they torture.

Maybe it’s time for me to save you.

You can beat me.

But do you really think you can beat him?

What about all the people in The Woods?

something like a micro-tear occurs in the neural pathways.

An accumulation over years.

Years. O-Okay, so can we, can we reverse

or-or brighten those areas with, like, some medicine or something?

We’ll… I’ll buy whatever it is that we need.

Brain matter is a finite resource.

Through physical therapy and the right drug cocktail,

we can mitigate or slow.

Not reverse.

Have you experienced any lightheadedness or spots in your peripheral vision?

Uh, me?

Maybe an uncontrollable tic in the ring or pinky finger of your left hand?

No. No.

I-I mean, m-maybe-maybe lightheadedness, but…

but doesn’t-doesn’t everybody get lightheaded sometimes?

Can we, can we focus on my dad?

I-I mean, I just… S-Sorry, it’s just a lot. I just…

Our recommendation is physical therapy,

figuring out the right anti-seizure medicine.

And no more using powers.

And I know you’re gonna do the same.

You have to.

Your family’s counting on you.

Let’s send someone straight to The Seven.

Let’s just go in order.

GPA: fucking terrible.

IQ: surprisingly good.

Additional skills: British accent?

All right, who is pushing for this kid?

Focus tests show him in the lead

with the 12 to 18 demo.

They think he seems like, quote, “a real one.”

His on-screen skin color tests read a bit dark.

Then we’ll get Annie fucking Leibovitz to shoot him, you racist shit.

Polarity brand is consistent, though.

All right, we will come back to him.

Who’s next? And seriously, where the fuck is Indira?
