Young Sherlock
Season 1 – Episode 7
Episode title: The Case of the Two Corners
Original release date: March 4, 2026
Starring: Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons, Colin Firth
Opening theme: “Days Are Forgotten” by Kasabian
Episode plot: Following a tunnel confrontation in Paris, Sherlock survives emergency surgery after being shot – a wound accidentally inflicted by Xiao Wei, who had been targeting Silas. At his bedside, Xiao Wei reveals that the creeping death was originally developed and funded by the British government under Hodge, tested on her Chinese village, and then stolen and sold by Malik to Silas as a private buyer. The group forms an uneasy alliance: Xiao Wei will help track Silas in exchange for the right to exact her own justice. Moriarty decodes the cryptic phrase “two corners” – a reference to Napoleon’s bicorne hat and a Paris brasserie – and the family runs a confidence scheme there to reach Silas’s intermediary, Kasgarli. Intercepting Kasgarli’s telegram, they learn Silas is in Constantinople. There, Sherlock privately meets his father, who confirms Beatrice is alive and present in the city, but the woman produced at the exchange is not Beatrice. Silas escapes, and the episode ends with Sherlock and Mycroft held at gunpoint by their own father.

I wasn’t aiming at him. I was aiming at your father.
Ah! Well, that is understandable.
I’ve tried to shoot him twice myself and missed both times.
James, why is she here?
Because I think you need to hear what she has to say.
My name is Xiao Wei.
I come from the village of Tai’an in Gansu, high in the hills.
[tense music playing]
This is the effect of what the scientists in Oxford were working on.
What you saw in that tunnel, they first tested on my village.
On my parents.
There’s a mineral deep beneath my people’s lands.
Professor Malik found a way to transform that mineral into a creeping death
and turn it into a weapon.
The programme was paid for by your government and run by Bucephalus Hodge.
But Professor Malik betrayed him.
Sold it to the highest bidder, a private buyer.
My father.
[Shou’an] Yes.
I’m so profoundly sorry.
It’s not your pity I need, but your help.
To ensure this can never happen again to anyone, anywhere.
You want to stop our father.
And you want to find him.
Yes.
I propose we combine our talents, double our chances of tracking him down.
Yes… but on one condition.
We have to find out where Beatrice is from Silas.
So, you cannot touch him until we have that information.
And after that?
Oh, well, after that you can do whatever you like to him.
And-And provided my sons don’t have any objection, of course.
Given the circumstances, I do not intend to stand in your way.
I find it difficult to condemn him to death so readily.
[exhales]
But if that’s what it takes to find Beatrice, that’s what it takes.
He’s still in Paris. Or at least the man who works for him is.
His name is–
Esad Kasgarli.
At the demonstration, the buyers were told to follow the usual channels at the “two corners”.
For those of you who wish to place an order, it’s only fitting that we should meet at the famous two corners.
Two corners…
An intersection?
Doesn’t exactly narrow it down, Sherlock.
[chattering, laughing]
Matchboxes.
What do you mean, darling?
On the table where Father was sat, there were matchboxes with the design on the front of two corners.
[James] Was there an address on it?
I wasn’t close enough to get a good look. I can’t be sure.
Well, it’s as good a place as any to start.
I’ll get going.
[Shou’an] I’ll go with him.
Well, I’d be delighted to have your company.
[in French] Hello.
I could make you filthy rich.
Would you mind?
Hmm.
[in English] There’s no address.
[in French] Excuse me.
Do you know where this place is?
No. Sorry, my love.
[groans, speaks in English] This is impossible.
“Impossible is a word…”
…only found in the dictionary of fools.
That’s what Silas said. Why that quote?
Maybe it means something. Originally, who said it?
[courtesan] Napoleon Bonaparte.
Napoleon?
Mm-hmm.
[chuckling]
It’s Napoleon’s hat.
Famous bicorne, it has two corners.
[speaks French]
[in English] What?
The Eagle and the Olive on the outskirts of Paris.
It’s a restaurant where Napoleon supposedly left his hat behind him.
It’s only fitting that we should meet at the famous two corners, where you can contact Mr Esad Kasgarli.
[kisses]
[in French] You are a genius.
[giggles]
[in English] You have no idea. [giggles]
I fear that I may have unwittingly set this all in motion.
Why do you say that?
About a year ago, Father asked me what I was working on.
Yes.
Now, I told him that I was working for Hodge.
But if memory serves, his ears did prick up.
I didn’t know any details at the time, but I told him that I was working for the government. That it was secret.
[sighs] He obviously set about making his own inquiries.
The only person who can be blamed for what has happened is your father.
[Sherlock] Oh, let’s let Mycroft torture himself, Mother.
At least for a while.
[chuckles]
Righto.
[sighs] Where are you going?
I need to get a message to London, warn them that Father has the weapon.
Another nail in the coffin of what remains of my career.
[chuckles]
Try not to die in my absence, would you?
[Sherlock] Mmm.
Reasonable request.
Mother.
Thank you, darling.
[Shou’an] No sign of Esad.
You can ask me, you know.
What you’ve been wanting to ask since you shot that soldier.
You’re not nearly as mysterious as you assume.
[chuckles] Mmm.
When you killed for the first time… how did you feel?
A great weight on my chest, pressing harder every day so I can hardly breathe.
And now, I live with it.
Strange…
I don’t feel any of that.
[tense music playing]
I… Sorry.
[coins scatter]
[groans]
I’ll get it.
I, uh… [chuckles] …I hurt my back recently.
Uh, sorry about that.
Esad Kasgarli has a regular table at a brasserie called The Eagle and the Olive.
Where he meets his potential customers.
And tomorrow, he is meeting a man called the Duke D’Ormond.
Still no sign of Silas?
No, I’m afraid not, Mrs Holmes.
So, we will need to lure him out of the shadows.
But how, darling?
By posing as customers.
[Cordelia] Hmm.
Please, don’t. Mind your stitches.
I’m all right. I am all right.
[groans, clears throat]
This is what we are going to do.
[upbeat music playing]
Bonjour.
Bonjour.
Sorry, madame, it’s occupied. I’m expecting someone.
Yes, me. Madame D’Ormond.
[Sherlock] Mother will explain the Duke never attends meetings,
that’s his wife’s duty.
Enchanté.
What if he recognises you?
Well, then, we’re sunk.
Meanwhile, the actual buyer
will be redirected by The Eagle and Olive’s newest waiter, to me.
[James] Excusez-moi, monsieur.
[in French] The Duke D’Ormond.
[Sherlock, in English] Cecil Fillimore. I’ll give him the sales pitch, then the Duke will duly hand over his money, which James will deliver to my mother, allowing us to finance stage two of the operation.
[speaking French]
[in English] What is stage two of the operation?
I am so glad you asked.
I have something for you.
[Sherlock] You will ask to meet the bigwig himself.
Excuse me, madame.
[Sherlock] Unable to resist so intriguing an offer,
Silas will then agree to meet with the madame.
Keep moving.
[Cordelia] Bonjour.
And voilà, he’ll tell us where Beatrice is.
[sighs]
That’s it. What could possibly go wrong?
[Sherlock] The key to being successful confidence men…
[Cordelia] And women.
The key to being successful confidence men and women is confidence.
Love the eyepatch.
Thank you.
Enchanté.
[speaking French]
[James] Excusez-moi, monsieur.
The Duke D’Ormond.
Cecil Fillimore.
[D’Ormond, in English] So… where is Mr Kasgarli?
I do hope you understand, Duke, the unexpected events at our demonstration have forced us to change our plans.
My instructions were to hand the money only to Mr Kasgarli himself.
I don’t deal with the monkey, only with the grinder of the organ.
Speaking as a monkey, I concur.
More common sense is what is needed in this topsy-turvy world of ours.
But if that is your instinct, you will have to come back another day. Understood?
Understood. Then, I shall take your advice.
[Sherlock] It’d be remiss of me not to inform you that the incident in the tunnels has only, in fact, proven the potency of our product.
We’re selling out fast.
[speaks French]
[in English] If you delay, you would risk missing out altogether.
Have a good day, sir.
[whistling]
[in French] Careful!
[glass shatters]
[exclaims]
I’m so sorry! [speaks French]
[speaks French]
[both speaking French]
[D’Ormond] Go and get your manager!
[both speaking French]
I believe this is yours.
[D’Ormond, James speak French]
I said I was sorry.
[speaks French]
[in English, with French accent] Burgundy, uh, ’57.
Some people say they prefer the ’62, but for me, if I wanted that much oak, I would eat a tree. [giggles]
[Esad chuckles]
So, tell me what you think of my proposal.
You introduce me to your boss and in return, I furnish you with a finder’s fee.
Voilà.
You carry your money in a plant pot?
Mr Holmes is in the back.
Perhaps Mr Holmes could come here?
You will be able to talk to him more freely in private.
If you wish to meet him, that is.
[tense music playing]
He’s in here.
Merci.
I do not see Monsieur Silas Holmes.
[gasps] Oh!
[Esad] If you please.
Monsieur? [breathes shakily]
[Esad] So…
We both know you are not the Duke’s wife.
Who are you really, madame?
[hammer cocks]
[normal voice] Do you doubt my money, sir?
Pardon?
Do you doubt the value of my money?
Do you believe it’s real?
It looks real.
You are correct. I-I’m not Madame D’Ormond, and I-I do apologise for the deception.
Uh, but now that I have your attention I should like to inform you that I am working on behalf of a-a very prominent British investor, who wishes to make a significant purchase from Mr Silas Holmes.
And if you play your part in arranging this, I can assure you that the money in that pot is merely the tip of the iceberg.
Purely for you own pockets, you understand?
So, as I see it, you have two options.
You can either continue to insult me, and let this golden opportunity slip through your fingers, or you can simply introduce me to Mr Silas Holmes.
This is taking too long.
[speaks Turkish]
[pencil scratches]
Come back here tomorrow at the same time, and I will have an answer for you, madame.
Thank you, sir. Uh, I’m much obliged.
He’s sending a telegram to Silas.
[dramatic music playing]
[train whistle blows]
I’ll go ahead, cause a distraction.
No. No, no. No distraction.
How about this time we don’t do one of your clever little scams or pickpocket dances?
Just let me try something.
[in French] Good day, sir.
How may I assist?
That man who was just here.
I want to see what he sent.
Sir?
[chuckles]
For your trouble.
Unless you’d like to handle this another way?
Sir? No?
Good lad.
What is this?
Uh. [chuckles]
[in English] Mrs Holmes, your husband is in Constantinople.
[people clamouring]
[Mycroft] Pardon me.
I need to see the ambassador. Mycroft Holmes.
The point is, Ambassador, I now know who sabotaged our government’s secret weapons programme.
And indeed I know who stole the weapon.
Yes, yes. Well, go on.
Regretfully, sir… it was my father, Silas Holmes.
You certain of this?
I’m afraid so, sir.
And it appears the government’s interests are now aligned with my own.
We must find my father, and bring him to justice.
Yes. Well, quite.
Quite?
Quite.
I shall wire the Foreign Secretary immediately.
Yes, sir.
Please wait here.
Will do.
[door closes]
[sighs]
[door opens]
Ah.
[door closes]
Apologies for the wait.
Not at all, sir.
I have a reply from the Foreign Secretary.
He informs me that you are in disgrace, and in fact no longer work for Her Majesty’s government.
Yes, it’s a little more nuanced than that–
There is, however, a path to redemption if you are prepared to walk it.
Now, listen. Carefully.
Train leaves in an hour.
[grunts]
It’s not your injury that makes you weak.
It’s your insistence that your body is unchanged.
My body has changed.
It’s changed because you shot me in the stomach.
The details are irrelevant.
Not to me.
You think strength is something physical.
It’s body mass and muscle… and reach.
All of which you have over me, and yet I’ve bested you in every encounter.
Why?
Because real strength comes from here… and here.
[James] Aw.
[Sherlock] James. Mother.
You found him?
I did.
But he found his own attire.
Mother.
[Sherlock] Were you met with success?
I was. The British government has offered her full support in helping to bring Father to justice.
Excellent.
Hmm.
So this is what it’s come to?
It would certainly seem that way.
[Cordelia] Wonderful.
Right then, Constantinople.

Sherlock, show her the photo.
Have you seen this man?
No.
Oh.
[whistles]
[speaking Turkish]
[Arabic funk playing]
[in English] That small child is going to find our father, is he?
The lowly status of the street urchin is what makes them the most useful of allies.
They can go anywhere, they are invisible. They’re irregulars.
[Arabic funk continues]
[music ends]
Sir, they are looking for you.
[in Turkish] Well done. Thank you, Burak.
Hmm?
[speaks Turkish]
[whispers indistinctly]
[in English] They have found your father.
He knows you’re here with me.
How?
It seems our street telegraph works both ways.
He wants to see you. Alone.
Oh, no. Well, darling, I have to come with you.
He was quite specific.
If you want to see your sister, you come alone.
Very well.
[Mycroft] Sherlock.
Good luck.
[sighs]
[speaks Turkish]
[speaks Turkish]
[Silas, in English] Do you know why magic is so beguiling, Sherlock?
No.
When something seems to defy rational explanation…
Wonder.
Wow.
The impossible made possible.
Is she still alive?
Please sit.
I’d rather not.
[sighs] What you did back in England, solving all this, finding me here, so clever.
I’m proud of you, my son.
Not natural for a father to leave his boy for dead, now, is it?
Sherlock, what are you talking about?
In the tunnel.
I was shot.
You ran.
I-I ran because that crazy woman
was trying to kill me.
Father!
[Silas] I was the one under attack, remember?
[Sherlock] Don’t!
You really think I’d want any harm to come to you?
[laughs]
Harm?
You’ve done nothing but harm.
[chuckles]
Look at me.
You broke my heart. You broke my mother’s heart, and only God knows what you’ve done with my sister.
So I ask you politely, please tell me… is my sister still alive?
Beatrice is fine.
I made sure she was looked after.
[exhales]
[exhales]
Where is she?
I still love you, you know. I’m still the man who raised you.
You’re a monster.
Oh, Sherlock, don’t be so simple.
We’re all of us capable of good and evil, even if it helps to call it that.
You included, whether you realise it or not. Tea?
No.
I acted… in my best interests. Of course I did.
But I also acted in yours.
You think you would have become the man you have, had you not been tested in the fire?
I can’t listen to this.
And yet you can’t leave. Can you?
I can’t leave because you won’t tell me where my sister is. Where is she?
She’s here in Constantinople with me.
You can see her tomorrow if you like, but…
I request something in return.
[James] So that’s his price, hmm?
That’s his price.
Shou’an.
She wants me dead. And if she kills me, well then you’ll never find Beatrice.
Our futures are intertwined.
Bring Shou’an tomorrow.
The square, same time, and I’ll give you your sister.
Well, then the choice is no choice at all.
You really find it that easy? Condemning someone to death?
You owe Shou’an nothing.
No, I don’t find it easy, but if it was my sister, then I wouldn’t have the slightest breath of hesitation.
I don’t think you should either.
[sighs]
Am I interrupting?
[both] Not at all.
“Now cracks a noble heart. Goodnight, sweet prince.”
“And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
I’m pleased for you that your journey ends well.
That you’ll see your sister.
Thank you.
Afterwards, your father is mine to do with as I see fit.
I realise this is hard for you, but we had an agreement.
I want what’s mine.
And you shall have it.
You have my word.
The porter and the princess.
Scout.
Never made it to the illustrious position of porter.
And I was never princess, only Xiao Wei.
[both chuckle]
How do you feel?
How am I supposed to feel?
How do you want to feel?
However I’m supposed to.
You are a work in progress, Sherlock.
[dramatic music playing]
[vendors clamouring]
I think just me and Mother from here.
He’s there. There he is.
She’s not with him.
[Sherlock] Let me talk to him.
[Cordelia] I don’t trust him.
I’ll be fine, Mother. You wait with Mycroft.
Silas.
[chuckles] Can’t you call me Father?
I can’t see my sister.
Do you know this city was built to rival the majesty of Rome?
It had the most sophisticated defence fortifications in antiquity.
It has survived fallen empires, brutal wars, disease…
Just about anything human history could throw at it, this city has endured.
A lovely lecture. Is it finished?
She doesn’t exactly look ready to surrender, Shirley.
She is. She just doesn’t know it yet.
What are they talking about?
You. I expect.
[hammer cocks]
[Shou’an gasps]
Now, as you can see I’m ready to deliver.
So, where’s my sister?
[sweeping music playing]
Bea? Bea?
Oh, Mother.
Bea. [chuckles]
My darling.
Your move, my boy.
I’ve missed you.
Silas.
Son.
You know what troubled me the most about killing that soldier?
I might have got a taste for it. Move!
Let me see your face.
Sherlock!
[chuckles] I find myself rather lost for words.
Which would be a first.
[chuckles]
What’s the matter, Mother?
It’s not her.
Mother.
Silas.
Trust me. It’s not Beatrice.
Have at him, Princess.
Thank you, James.
[crowd screaming]
[Cordelia yells]
[grunts]
[gunshots]
Mother, we’ve got to go.
You’re not my daughter!
[screaming continues]
[gunshots]
[screams]
Find her!
Hey, hey.
You!
I knew you’d betray me, Sherlock. [chuckles]
Are you not my son after all?
Hello, Mother.
Bea? Bea.
Sherlock.
Mycroft.
Raise your hands.
If you’d be so kind.
You too, brother dear.
