Season 1 – Episode 2
Episode title: Jane Doe
Original release date: July 17, 2025

Plot: Turner discovers a bottle of pills marked with the same gold X on Doe’s trail, while Souter reveals a box to Vasquez full of the beaded bracelets similar to Doe’s. Turner confronts Teddy, a park employee and pot dealer, over the pills, and coerces him into finding more information. Souter attempts to convince Turner to take a job at a different park. Turner is met at his house by Avalos, an investigator inquiring about Sean Sanderson, whose disappearance and subsequent investigation were headed by Turner five years prior, immediately after Caleb’s death. Turner and Vasquez travel to a plot of park inhabited by squatters to investigate the pills; Vasquez discovers a girl hiding information about Doe. Turner confronts Shane Maguire, a wildlife manager, about the potential coyote attack on Doe, before shooting Shane’s rifle into a stump and recovering it to compare with the other bullet. Vasquez ignores texts from Michael, her son Gael’s father, while Teddy asks a local tattoo artist about the gold Xs, which causes Teddy to be strangled later that night. At a wedding anniversary party for Souter, Milch reveals to Vasquez that Caleb was kidnapped and murdered in the park. Vasquez and Turner discover both Teddy’s body and Jane Doe’s identity, Lucy Cook.

Untamed – S01E02 – Jane Doe | Full transcript

[Turner] I’m looking into this girl who went off El Capitan. Heard anything about that?

Just that another tourist got too close to the edge.

I’m no mineral expert, but looks like gold to me.

Bullet wound through her left thigh.

Hidden by the other injuries.

So it wasn’t just coyotes she was running from.

[Turner] Worth checking on any missing Indigenous girls in the state though.

If you’re stumbling a bit, talk to me, okay?

What will you wish for?

Same thing I always wish for.

[Souter] That is my godson, Caleb.

He passed away several years ago, I’m afraid.

Death has come again to my people’s lands.

Bodies will fall like the stars.

[tense music peaks and fades out]

[birds chirping]

[sweeping, mysterious music playing]

[gunshot echoes]

[woman groans]

[gasping]

[music crescendoes]

[whimper echoes]

[melancholy music rises slowly]

[reporter] There’s still no answer yet from the park regarding the death of this young woman, other than the investigation is still ongoing. However, with this recent fatality, combined with resurfacing questions regarding the disappearance of Stockton businessman, Sean Sanderson, it’s putting the park’s PR team on the defense.

[intriguing music playing]

[horse snorts]

[music fades]

[Souter] So, are you getting him settled in okay?

Sir?

Gael. New town and all.

Uh, yeah, he’s pretty easy to please.

Preschool till noon.

Stays with a neighbor till I get home.

Little different vibe than LA. [chuckles] Listen to me. The sign said we could ride horses on the trail.

[Milch] Sit.

I don’t know what I did wrong.

The list is long, asshole.

Starting with you were not on a trail and ending with a cow is not a fucking horse.

Trailer tipped, and some cattle got loose.

This…

Hey, hey, hey.

…shitfaced rodeo clown barebacks one of them through a fucking fence.

What… Wait a sec. Wait a sec.

Yeah, no, I’m not.

I… I lost my phone.

I don’t care.

I’m gonna start leaving idiots like this out there.

Survival of the fittest and all that shit.

Yeah, I guess it’s not exactly LA.

[Naya] Yeah. [chuckles]

People don’t ride cows in LA.

[Naya] No, sir.

So, how’s your other kid getting on?

Special Agent Turner.

[laughs]

Yeah, he’s definitely tougher than a four-year-old.

Mm.

Hell of a good agent though.

You stick close and watch, you’ll pick up a lot.

Yeah, he… he knows his way around out there.

Found a bracelet Jane Doe was wearing when she went off.

Connected it to a camp they used to run.

Wildwood Nature Adventures.

[Souter] Yeah, for disadvantaged kids.

It’s a while back.

[Naya] From 2008 to 2011.

Wait, so he’s… he’s got you here looking for a match for a bracelet?

Mmhmm.

Got ’em.

[grunts]

[Naya] Gotta be kidding me.

[Souter] Bart kept all this in case they ever started a camp up again.

Anyone could’ve picked up one of these?

Just about.

Folks would come in and grab a handful for a kid’s party or something.

[cell phone vibrating]

[Souter] Right.

Remind him that my job is on the line.

Not that he’d care.

Vasquez.

[Turner] We get the toxicology report back yet?

No.

Well, tell him we need it today, no excuses.

[Naya] Okay.

What are you turning up with that bracelet?

Besides these things being handed out as party favors for the past decade?

What’s that mean?

There’s a box full of ’em at the station for anyone who wants one.

Probably just wasting time chasing these.

Yeah. Wasting time until you realize you aren’t.

[vehicle starts]

That’s the job, Ranger Vasquez.

Milch!

I’ll trade for your cow rider.

So, personally, this is, uh, this is my favorite.

It’s a freshwater nine-foot, five-weight.

Wow.

Kind of feels like it’s part of your arm.

Whoa.

[exclaims]

[engine cuts]

Why don’t we just save the big cast for outdoors, yeah?

Uh… Yeah, excuse me.

Fuck me. Turner!

Turner. Turner!

What the hell, Turner? You can’t just…

Goddammit, I don’t…

I don’t know how that, uh…

Double trouble, Teddy.

You’re on federal land.

This feels heavy enough for distribution.

No, man. I’m…

I was just going over to Mariposa to hang.

That’s just for me.

[pills rattling]

These too?

No. Fuck, man.

I don’t know what that shit is.

It’s about three years for trafficking is what it is.

Dude… none of that was in my ride.

It kinda feels like it could’ve been, though, doesn’t it?

If it isn’t yours, who do I talk to?

I got no idea.

Who puts this on their product?

No

No clue.

I’ll be right there, sir.

Just… hey, Turner.

Let me ask around, okay?

You’ll be straight with me, right?

Yeah, shit.

Who’s this? Look.

Fuck, man.

You didn’t look, Teddy.

I don’t need to see. I don’t know her.

Never seen her before?

No.

Parttime work?

No.

Maybe she hung out with your friends?

I don’t know who everybody hangs with.

Who do you hang out with?

Nobody.

Yeah, shocker.

What about this tattoo?

Now, look. Who does work like this?

Anyone with a sewing needle, bro.

It’s a fucking X.

Yeah, except the ink’s got flakes in it.

Actual gold.

Shit, I’ve never heard of that before.

It’s way too pricey for any artist I know.

But you’re gonna ask around for me, right?

About the pills, the girl, the tattoo?

Yeah.

Jesus, I’ll ask.

Okay.

Hey, hey, hey.

Hey. Hey, hey, hey.

My stuff?

You give me something, I’ll give you the stuff, Teddy.

Come on, man.

[woman] …a room service menu as well as the Wi-Fi password.

Yosemite Falls should be beautiful today at sunset.

Anything else you need, don’t hesitate to give me a call.

Thank you.

[man] We’re good.

Enjoy your stay.

Thanks.

Hello, you. It’s been a while.

Thought you’d got lost in the wilderness or something.

A lot of things keep me busy.

Yes, right.

Well, you know, we’re all busy.

Still call someone back, huh?

Yeah.

Sorry.

You’re not here to see me right now either.

Work stuff.

Right.

Yeah.

[telephone ringing]

Uh…

Well, look at that.

Now I get to be too busy for you.

Uh, but I will see you around, maybe.

Yeah, okay.

Front desk, Lana speaking.

[elevator door closing]

You do realize nothing happens unless you push the button.

What do you know about these carvings?

Well, just that they came with the place and… been here a lot longer than I have.

Feel like a cheeseburger?

No.

[Souter] Sure you do.

So how’s our Jane Doe coming along?

You buying me this lunch or is Hamilton?

Yeah, he checked in a few times, so I guess…

Lawrence and I are splitting the tab.

Found a couple of things.

Not sure where they lead yet.

What, like the camp bracelets?

Vasquez mentioned that.

I won’t be getting Lawrence’s hopes up on that one.

We take what we can get.

I, uh… had a call last week from a buddy who, uh, runs a park up at Glacier.

He’s… looking for an agent to station up there.

More of a presence.

I heard.

Might be a good opportunity.

Change of scenery for a bit.

Just temporary, he says.

Look, let Vasquez or Milch take over Jane Doe.

And if it turns into something, then, we’ll bring an ISB agent from some other park.

Why do I feel like Jill may be picking up part of this lunch tab too?

[chuckles]

Hmm?

No, she didn’t bring up Glacier.

That was my idea.

But she is concerned.

She’s got no reason to be.

I’m guessing that your 2:00 a.m. phone calls aren’t helping your case any there.

You’ve locked yourself away in this park, Kyle.

It’s not healthy.

You’ve been in that cabin for years, still living out of boxes. Jesus.

I’m fine. All right?

I’ll tell Jill.

Better yet, you tell her, so I don’t scare her with another call.

Listen, what happened with… with Caleb, there’s no getting past that.

But there is a fine line between staying to hang on to something and staying to just hurt.

If you don’t know the difference–

You know what, just tell everyone I said thanks for lunch.

[emotional music playing]

Yeah, it’s a great home for a family.

There’s lots of open space to run inside and out.

[cell phone vibrating]

There’s a beautiful little park.

Neighborhood park down the block.

Uh, it’s a top-ten school district.

I used to be an elementary school teacher.

I’m so sorry, I gotta grab this.

But, um, feel free to look around, okay?

Of course.

I’m in the middle of showing a house, Kyle.

Is everything okay?

[Turner] I need you to do me a favor and not pull the Paul Souter alarm every time I call you after 6:00 p.m.

Okay, you know what?

I don’t have time for this right now.

But I only mentioned it to Paul because it’s been happening more frequently lately.

And I’m worried.

Well, don’t worry. It won’t happen again.

[phone beeps]

[woman] It really is lovely place.

Yeah, it’s a larger lot, so it’s an extra quarter acre.

I mean, I think your kids could have a really good time out here.

You have children?

Uh, I do.

Um…

I have, uh… two girls and a little boy.

[woman] That’s perfect.

Yeah.

I’m really lucky.

[emotional music playing]

Agent Turner, I was just leaving you a note.

Esther Avalos.

How can I help you?

I’m the investigator for the firm representing Sean Sanderson’s family.

Mr. Sanderson disappeared just over five years ago.

I remember.

I’m working on the family’s wrongful death case.

Whose wrongful death?

Sean Sanderson. As you know, he–

You said he went missing.

In California, a petition may be filed after a missing person has not been seen or heard from for five years.

We have reached that point.

I’m hoping to get a little clarity from you on a few things. Um…

Two days after Mr. Sanderson’s disappearance, his vehicle was found parked on a service road outside the park?

Yeah, I’m the one who found it.

And at the time, you weren’t able to track his movement into the park?

Well, tracking someone on foot isn’t quite as easy as it looks in the movies.

And a few days later, three campers contacted the county sheriff’s department, saying they had spoken to a man thought to be Mr. Sanderson at the North Pines campground site.

Yeah, well, they seemed sure.

We did a search of the surrounding area, but didn’t find anything.

Yes, well, a note was recently discovered where Mr. Sanderson had scribbled the words, “Meet CA at North Pines.”

Do you think that could mean anything?

Him referencing a meeting at this location?

Is the note dated?

Not that I’m aware.

Then I have no idea if the two are related.

I would suggest going through his contacts for a match to that CA that you mentioned.

I already did that, but thank you for the tip. Um…

In your report, you stated that you headed a weekslong investigation.

The way I understand your position, an ISB agent investigates crimes inside the park system.

If you didn’t feel that there was any foul play, why not just let the rangers handle the search?

I didn’t have any other open investigations at the time, so, situations like that…

I like to pitch in.

Understood.

One last thing, Agent Turner.

Do you feel that you were in a proper condition to head the search for Mr. Sanderson?

I saw that you took a voluntary leave just a few months earlier due to a personal matter.

Yeah, I was fine.

Okay, then.

Thank you.

Have a good day.

Toxicology came back clean on Jane Doe.

No trace of anything.

Tell Milch he owes me 20 bucks.

Yeah, I’m not touching that one.

So what’s our next move?

We talk to some people.

Can I get to these people in a Jeep?

No.

I don’t wanna ride another horse.

You won’t be.

You’ll be riding the same horse.

Equine humor.

Hilarious.

[light, spirited music playing]

[Naya] I haven’t seen this view before.

You can’t get here in a Jeep.

And this is all part of the park?

People come here to explore.

They see maybe 10% of the park.

The rest of it’s out there.

[wind gusting]

[grass rustling]

[Turner] Picked up more of Jane Doe’s tracks earlier.

Found these.

Getting them tested.

My guess is some kind of a blend.

But she was clean.

So we talk to someone who isn’t.

[Naya] What is this?

[Turner] A squatter village.

[indistinct chatter]

[Naya] You think those pills might’ve belonged to one of them?

[Turner] Maybe.

Gives us a good excuse to ask some questions.

[Naya] Where do these people come from?

[Turner] All over.

Green-bloods, old hippies, conspiracy fanatics.

Or just hiding from the world.

This isn’t legal, right, for them to be here?

You move them on, they just turn up another part of the park.

It’s like Whack-A-Mole with bad BO.

[indistinct murmuring]

[woman] Boo!

[man] Boo!

[overlapping chatter]

Sounds like you’re not very welcome here, Agent Turner.

Unfortunately, I’m the only one of us supposed to be here, Glory.

[Glory chuckles]

This little show would land stronger if they’d stop breaking into people’s tents and cars and stealing gear.

Oh, I wouldn’t know anything about that. Yeah.

But those people, they are part of the system.

Invaders. [scoffs] You’re a fresh face, darling.

[Turner] This is Ranger Vasquez, she’s new, up from LA.

Oh, and the first thing you do is bring her up here to hassle us.

Yeah.

We don’t hurt anyone.

We wanna live here in peace and just enjoy this land.

[man] We are guardians of the wilderness.

[squatters agreeing]

Yeah, that’s what you are, yeah.

So where’s Abuelo?

[man] Get out of here.

He’s on a spiritual walkabout.

And how long do these usually take?

Hours, days, weeks.

Abuelo returns when he’s found his center.

[Turner] Or when the mushrooms have worn off.

Is this, uh, his artwork?

Abuelo is many things, not really an artist.

Is this the sort of thing that you have chosen to sell your conscience for?

I guess.

Was this girl part of your group?

What happened to her?

Went off the summit.

Her choice?

Trying to figure that out.

Any of you know this girl?

Do you recognize this girl?

Do any of you know this girl?

[woman] Our land…

Any of you know this girl?

[chanting] Our earth, our land.

Jesus… Really?

[squatters] Our earth, our land.

Do any of you know her?

Why is Abuelo so popular?

Just trying to connect some dots.

Yeah, that’s what De Niro said.

What I don’t like is all of you trying to connect your dots to us.

De Niro?

I don’t know, your Deer Hunter ranger, came by here last night.

[Naya] Do you recognize her?

Do any of you know this girl?

If you can help us…

What’s your name?

Hey, tell me.

[man] Don’t talk to her.

Excuse me. Help me.

Hey…

Don’t put your hands on me.

[tense music playing]

Hey.

Back up. Now.

[whistles sharply]

Ranger, let’s go. We’re done here.

[Naya] She knows something.

What’s your name?

[Turner] Ranger…

There’s more here to

Vasquez.

We’re done.

[man] Better go.

[man] Bye-bye.

[Glory] Things are handled differently here.

Maybe you should just go back to the big city.

Fuck you, lady.

[Glory laughs] And brush your teeth.

[laughing]

[squatters jeering]

[laughing]

[squatters chattering]

She knew something.

[squatters continue chattering]

Yeah, maybe.

But she wasn’t gonna say anything, not with that group cheering her on.

So this cult here, they get to call the shots?

For today.

Then what was this about? Who’s Abuelo?

Resident squatter shaman.

Their version of a dealer?

[Turner] Pretty much.

[horse snorting] Head southwest to the canyon and then follow the trail.

Where are you going?

Hang on.

Shit.

Thanks.

[nickering]

[groans]

[intriguing music playing]

You’re killing me, horse.

[bellowing]

[horse snorts]

No, no! Come back!

Fuck.

[music fades]

[twig snapping]

[gunshot echoes]

What’s mine is yours.

Hmm.

I hoped you’d feel that way.

How you doing, Kyle?

Mm.

Better now.

Thought those were off limits to you.

Nah.

A special occasion.

[man chuckles]

What qualifies as a special occasion nowadays?

Well, I’m a positive thinker.

I can find something special in anything if I put my mind to it.

[man chuckles]

Where you coming in from, Shane?

I had to ride out to the Clemmons Gap.

For deer.

Glad it wasn’t further, the cooler would have been empty.

Station said a few of them have got chronic.

Yeah, some of the females.

Trying to clean them out before it spreads too deep.

Did someone get in touch with you about a coyote attack on a hiker?

Yeah, out near Washburn.

Looking into it.

How did you know where I was camped?

You’ve never been patient enough to hide your trail.

Yeah, it’s a habit of being Wildlife Control, I guess.

I’m usually the one doing the hunting.

So what’s a phony shaman like Abuelo have to do with sick deer?

[chuckles lightly]

Yeah, I have a feeling I should have been looking over my shoulder for a while now.

I just had some questions for him.

Abuelo’s suddenly a wildlife expert?

I’m not like you, Kyle. I got hobbies.

[scoffs] Hobbies or habits?

Habits are the one thing we both got, I guess.

What you know about the girl who went off El Capitan?

Jesus Christ, a lot of questions.

You wanna shine a flashlight in my eye, set the mood?

I just need to know if I need to look into it or if I can pass it on.

All I know is what I heard on the radio.

Anything beyond that, that’s your department, not mine.

Funny how you should turn up looking for Abuelo around the same time as me.

Yeah, well, who’s to say?

The world’s full of coincidences.

I’m not one of them Smokey the Bear rangers, works under you, Kyle.

Just looking to swap mine out.

I’m curious about the weight.

Huh.

Nice feel to it.

What’s the top range before you lose accuracy?

[chuckles]

I haven’t found it yet.

Fuck! Jesus Christ!

The fuck is wrong with you?

[tense music playing]

It’s a neat little trick.

Just trying to see what kind of secrets you got, Shane.

We all got little secrets, Kyle.

You gonna tell mine before I tell yours?

I’ll know soon enough, I guess.

Yeah, I guess.

Thanks for the beer.

[music fades out]

[laughs]

[Naya] Again, I’m sorry I’m so late.

Work was a little crazy today.

I didn’t mind one bit.

He’s such a sweet boy.

[chuckling]

Well, thank you.

Oh. Did his father get in touch with you?

His father?

Yeah, he called today.

I’ll call him tonight.

Thank you.

Okay.

Can do whatever you want.

Yo, T.

How’s it going?

It’s going.

[exhales] Hey, that’s cool.

Gonna make the wings like flowers.

[Teddy] Nice.

How are your pockets, bro?

Empty. [chuckles] Fuck, dude. Who did that to us?

Uh…

Okay, this asshole ranger jacked my stash, but I’m gonna get it back from him tomorrow.

It’ll be smoked by then.

No, no. [chuckles] Not… not this guy.

Do you know anything about gold tattoos?

Like, um, using real gold as ink or some shit?

Fuck, yeah. That would be so drip.

Around the wings, like pixie dust.

There’s no such thing.

Well, this ranger, he said he found a gold X on some girl that went off El Cap.

Said it matched a design on a pill bottle.

He don’t know what he’s talking about.

You can’t put gold on people.

Fucks up the skin.

[Teddy] Okay, like how?

Ain’t real.

He shoved a picture in my face.

Looked pretty fucking real to me.

[groans] Fuck that dude.

Let him keep the weed.

Go grab us some new.

Linson, if I don’t give this park cop what he–

Until I’m not.

[Gael] See you suckers!

[laughing]

Hey, you. You were supposed to stay with Sadie.

She just kept making me push her.

[Naya] Ah.

This is mine. Gael.

This is Agent Turner.

Hi, Agent Turner.

[Turner] Hi.

[emotional music playing]

Hey, I’m gonna head back to work too.

Let me know if something turns up on your end.

Mm.

[Scott] Wow. Brian and Corrine are going to Costa Rica next month.

Honey, you hear that?

Did…

Oh. I… [chuckles] Yeah, you know, Scott and I have been trying to do that, but we haven’t been able to pull the trigger.

[music fades]

[girl] You got this, Shelbs.

[boy] No, she’s gonna back out.

[girl] Shut up. You don’t have to jump.

Ignore them.

Let’s go. Let’s go.

Whoo!

[boy] Oh man!

[girl] Oh, my God, yes!

[gasps]

[boy] Yeah!

[girl] Way to go, Shelbs!

Whoo!

[all] Yeah!

[screaming]

[chilling music peaks and halts]

[suspenseful music playing]

[keyboard clacking]

[horse snorting]

[mouse clicks]

[suspenseful music continues]

[line ringing]

[Naya] Hey, Sam.

Did you get those two files I just sent you?

Can you run facial recognition on them?

I’m looking for a match.

And any way you can mirror me so I can see the results?

[radio beeping]

This is Turner.

[Milch] Uh, we got a situation.

Yeah, I’m watching.

[Milch] Shit.

The bait shop kid?

Teddy?

Some of the kids working in this park, the shit they get into.

Not his fault.

[cell phone ringing]

[cell phone continues ringing]

Yeah.

I found Jane Doe.

[music fades]

[mysterious music playing]
