Episode plot: Roxana, under orders from Roper, calls Pine claiming to have narrowly avoided capture. They arrange to meet, where Pine narrowly avoids being killed by Roper’s men thanks to a tip-off from Teddy, who has learned that Roxana is compromised. Carrascal becomes suspicious of Teddy, who subsequently kills him in an ensuing fight. Roper confronts Roxana, who suggests Teddy harbours feelings for Pine. Sally facilitates the escape of Chief Justice Arbenz from armed supervision. They assemble a team of journalists to observe the arrival of the electromagnetic pulse bomb and reveal the plot of Roper and British Intelligence. Meanwhile, Pine and Teddy head to Cabrera’s military base, with Pine taking the guise of Teddy’s prisoner. Teddy claims Roper and Pine are planning on double-crossing Cabrera by sending 50 armed men instead of the pulse bomb. Cabrera then agrees to divert the shipment to co-ordinates where Sally and Arbenz are waiting. Roper arrives at the military base, where the group turns against him. In London, Burr has gathered information against Mayra. The pair meet in a library where Burr announces the coup has been foiled. Back in Colombia, an aeroplane is heard overhead and it is revealed that Roper has sent two shipments. The pulse weapon arrives at the military base while Sally and Arbenz receive an empty container, but for a red rose. Roper regains Cabrera’s trust and Teddy and Pine’s deceit is exposed. The unmoved Roper kills Teddy, but Martin sacrifices his own life to provide a distraction to allow Pine to escape. In London, Mayra walks away from the meeting triumphant, and Burr is later killed at her home in France. The episode closes with Roper in England picking up Danny from boarding school, while news of the ongoing Colombian civil war plays on the radio, which Roper changes to play Odetta’s version of Bob Dylan’s Masters of War as they drive away.

[birds chirping]

[intriguing music]

[disembodied voices whispering]

[whispering continues]

[intriguing music]

[man] He said, “No, no. You can’t.

We can’t touch the cow.”

“We can’t move the cow.”

[Roper] Uh, well, can we run the cow over? Ah. Here he is. Eduardo. Sit down. Have a pastry.

[Teddy] I’m not hungry. So. What’s going on?

[Roper] All is going to plan. I want you to go to the Cabreras and tell them delivery’s tonight. Bang on schedule. You leave in an hour. Take Juan with you.

[Teddy] Okay. And you?

[Roper] I will follow in due course. I have a small matter that requires my attention.

[Teddy] I’ll call the Cabreras to let them know.

[intriguing music]

[Teddy] [in Spanish] This is Eduardo.

[Pine] [in English] Hi. How are we doing?

[Teddy] [in Spanish] I’m here with Gilberto now.  Please, tell Cabrera that everything is according to plan. Okay?

[Pine, in English] The plane?

[Teddy, in Spanish] All of it.

[Pine, in English] Be careful, Teddy.

[Teddy, in Spanish] Okay, I’m coming with Mr Carrascal now. We’ll see you at the meeting point. Alright.

[phone beeping]

[Teddy, in English] Done.

[Sally] Okay. I called Consuelo. She told me there’s an abandoned firing range about 25 miles east of the city. It’s called San Marco. We can land the plane there.

[intriguing music]

[phone ringing]

[Roper] Rumpelstiltskin. Prompt as ever.

[Pine] So what do you say to my offer?

[Roper] Well, actually, I was more curious to know what you felt about mine.  Fifty million. Join the party before it’s too late.

[Pine] No deal. But I’ll be seeing you. Soon, I hope.

[Roper] The sooner the better. I miss that smile.

[tense music]

[Sally] Got it?

[Pine] Yep.

[Pine] I’ll be seeing you. Soon, I hope.

[Roper] The sooner the better. I miss that smile.

[Pine] Okay. Sally, reopen the connection with London. Tell Basil we’re diverting the plane. Then pick up Consuelo. I want a reception committee on the ground. Colombian and international.

[Sally] I’m on it.

[Pine] I’ll call you when I get to Teddy.

[intriguing music]

[Pine] How far is it?

In any normal country, two hours. In Colombia four.

[phone buzzing]

[Pine] Roxana.

Hello? Are you there? Can you hear me?

[Pine] Yes.

They found us, I got out. I’m on a bus headed towards Zabaleta. Help me! I need your help.

[Pine] Where’s Tavo?

I don’t know, I don’t know. He ran, I gotta go, I’ll call you back.

[Pine] Roxana! Fuck.

What happened?

[Pine] We need to make a detour. [sighs]

[intriguing music]

[Teddy, in Spanish] Hey, Juan… What private matter were you discussing with Gilberto this morning?

[Juan] We were just… clearing up loose ends.

[intriguing music]

[line ringing]

[in English] Where are you?

[Roxana] I’m almost there.

When you get off the bus, walk into the parking lot.

I’ll be able to see you.

[phone beeping]

[in Spanish] It’s Matthew Ellis, isn’t it?

That fucking guy. I should have killed him when I had the chance. Piece of shit.

[Juan] Forget it. It’s being sorted.

How is it being sorted?

Relax.

[sighs]

This is my operation, Juan. Hmm? I created it. I have a right to know what’s going on. So why don’t you tell me? Hmm?

Our Miami beauty has come back into the fold.

That’s all you need to know. Now go.

[Teddy] And Gilberto trusts that bitch?

Yes. And you should thank her, actually.

Why, Juan?

What do you mean why?

[scoffs]

Your English loverboy had you round his little finger.

Go.

Come on!

[tense music]

[tense music]

I’ll call the Cabreras and tell them we’ve arrived.

All right.

[Martín] Shall I get her?

[Jonathan] I’ll go.

[phone buzzing]

Yeah.

[in Spanish] I’m with Carrascal, waiting at the lookout point at kilometre 29.

[in English] Okay. I’m delayed.

Picking up Roxana.

[in Spanish] Oh, no, I wouldn’t bother with that.

We’re here waiting.

Don’t waste your time.

[phone beeping]

[tense music]

[people laughing, chattering]

[line ringing]

[phone buzzing]

[Roxana, in English] Okay. I’m here. I can see you.

Where are you?

Matthew, where are you? Hello?

I’m in the blue car to the left, about 30 yards from you.

He’s in the blue Opel Astra, heading into…

[tense music]

[woman screaming]

[gunshots]

Goodbye, Roxana, and good luck.

You’re gonna need it.

Go!

[man] He’s not in the car.

[phone buzzing]

[in Spanish] Everything okay, Juan?

What happened?

Matthew Ellis got away.

It seems he got a tipoff.

Who from?

How long are the Cabreras going to be?

How should I know?

But they’re coming, right?

Of course they are!

Eduardo. Did you really call the Cabreras?

I don’t believe this.

Show me your phone.

Show it to me!

No.

What are you doing?

I’m calling Cabrera myself.

Relax, Juan. There’s no need for that.

You don’t trust me? Seriously?

Here.

Take it.

Son of a bitch.

Get up.

I’m the son of a bitch, Juan? Me?

Did you know what Roper was planning?

To go back to England without me?

Of course I knew.

Go fuck yourself.

You were the only dumbass who didn’t.

Please, please. Listen, Teddy.

You’re a piece of shit, Juan.

I’m begging you.

What are you begging for?

Please, don’t.

I don’t want to kill you.

Don’t.

Just get in the car.

Alright. Thank you.

Easy now.

[both grunt]

[tense music]

[panting]

[grunts]

[in English]

Photos and coordinates from Jane.

You take the car.

I’ll find my own way.

[Jonathan] Thank you.

You’ve been kind to me, Martín.

You didn’t have to be.

You’re being kind to our people.

So anything I can do.

Just find Tavo.

Okay?

Okay.

And let me know where you are.

[Mayra] We have to postpone.

[Roper] Nothing is being postponed. I have a deadline and I intend to meet it.

[Mayra] It’s too risky. Until you find him, I’m pulling the operation.

[Roper] What did you say?

[Mayra] You heard.

[Roper] Mayra, darling, I wonder if you know how to cook a frog. If you chuck him into boiling water, the little bugger just jumps right back out again. But if you ease him in at room temperature, and gradually crank up the heat, he doesn’t notice a thing until his brain is gently boiling in its own juice. You’re the frog in this analogy, in case you hadn’t figured that out.

[Mayra] You’re going to regret speaking to me like that.

[Roper] Is that a threat, Mayra? You pondering a spot of treachery? Well, then remember this. You ordered the killing of Rex Mayhew in his Surrey home. If I go down, I’ll happily take you with me.

[phone beeping]

[intriguing music]

[Pine] Where is he? Help me.

[grunts]

[Teddy] What is going to happen to him if all this works?

You know what. I was there in the office that night in Cartagena. I saw you when you were alone, hurting yourself.

You shouldn’t have seen that.

[Pine] You don’t have to be that person, Teddy. You can disappear into those hills. Back to your sister. Be Eduardo Vidal again.

[scoffs]

[Pine] No one will ever know. You can be free. But not with him alive.

[intriguing music]

When did you fall in love with him? Was it in London? First encounter? Or was it when he pulled his Lazarus act here in Colombia? You fell into his arms, and in his arms you stayed.

I didn’t tip him off.

Well, then how did he know? Who told him? Is there a plan? Is he coming here on his white charger? Is that the lure? See, Frisky and I have some experience in this area. If we want someone to share their secrets, we tend to find a way.

I didn’t tip him…

Enough!

…off.

I warned you. I made it perfectly clear.

Don’t touch me! Let me make something clear. You’re right about Matthew Ellis. He is so easy to fall in love with. But I chose not to. Maybe I was wise to his true intentions. Or maybe I’m just not capable of love. But either way, I didn’t lose my heart to him. And if someone did, it wasn’t me.

[Roper] Take her back to the house.

[Roxana grunts]

[Roper] Oh, you beauty.

[calm music]

[calm music]

[indistinct chattering]

[shouting]

[whistle]

[man shouting]

[in Spanish] Let him through. Everything okay?

Carlos.

Where’s Carrascal?

There’s something I need to show you.

What? What’s going on?

[in English] Out. Out!

[in Spanish] This is what’s going on.

[Jonathan grunts]

Who’s this? Who is he?

This piece of shit calls himself Matthew Ellis. He tricked us into thinking he was an investor. I put him on a plane to Paris two days ago. What I don’t understand, José, is… what the fuck is he doing having breakfast with Roper yesterday? So I had him followed. He drove here. Booked into a hotel just down the road. On our way here, Carrascal tried to call him. He pulled a gun on me.

And?

Well, Juan is no longer with us.

Bring him inside.

Let’s go.

Get out of the way!

[dramatic music]

[phone ringing]

Consuelo Arbenz.

[Sally, in English] This is Jane. It’s happening. You need to come now.

[in Spanish] It’s my son’s school. He’s in trouble again. Mr Guzmán, give me two minutes, please, to talk to him. Two minutes, please.

Hey, sweetie, what have you done this time? Please, darling. I can’t keep getting calls from the school.

[Sally, in English] I’m at the rear exit. Orange Kia. Now.

Uhhuh.

[in Spanish] How’s it going?

Good, thanks.

[tense music]

[in English] Go, go, go!

Untie my hands now!

Who are you? Hmm?

What’s your name?

You know my name. It’s Matthew Ellis.

Sorry?

Matthew Ellis. [grunts]

[Teddy] What’s your fucking name?

[Pine panting] It’s Matthew Ellis.

Not according to this, Mr Birch.

Liar. You’re supposed to be in Paris, Matthew, with your ex-wife and your beautiful little daughter. What the fuck were you doing yesterday, huh? Having lunch with this man. Reservation under Andrew Birch. Who is he? Answer. Who is he?

He’s just an old friend.

His name is Giles Merriman.

I promise you, he’s just…

[grunts]

[whimpers]

[Teddy] Wrong answer. [in Spanish] Who the hell is he? Answer, asshole!

[grunts] Okay…

[in English] One last chance. Who is he?

[Pine] His name… is Richard Onslow Roper.

And why did you meet him?

[Pine] Just business.

Ah, business. When you came here, you called him from the hotel phone, didn’t you?

[in Spanish] Listen to this.

[in English] Listen to this. Hmm?

[Roper] When we meet again, the Cabreras will be dead. You and I will be on British soil. Not a mosquito or Colombian in sight.

[Jonathan] And José Cabrera? No regrets?

José Cabrera is a cowboy and he’s not fit for civilized company.

[Jonathan] I’ll be seeing you. Soon, I hope.

The sooner the better. I miss that smile.

[tense music]

[Jonathan groaning]

[in Spanish] Who is the fucking mosquito? Who is the fucking mosquito? Talk!

[Jonathan groaning]

[gun cocks]

[José] Talk.

[Pine] [groans, coughs] [in English] All right. Okay. I work for British intelligence.

How do you know Roper?

[Pine] Egypt. Nine years ago, I infiltrated an operation of his. I recruited him under the counter. I’ve been working him ever since.

What are you doing here?

[Pine] [panting] If I tell you, I want guarantees. I’ll walk away when this is done. Flight back to London, huh?

[grunting] [José, in Spanish] Get him up.

[Carlos] Come here, you son of a bitch!

[in English] Talk.

[Pine] You’ve been running weapons deals for the last two years. Six shipments to support a rebel army. [panting] There’s a military plane coming here tonight. You think it’s gonna airdrop the last shipment. An electrical weapon to ignite your war. But… there will be no weapon.

[José] What the fuck do you mean?

[Pine] It’s a trap. It’s Roper’s idea. The plane will parachute in 50 combat paratroopers. Special forces brigade. La Jungla.

And what will they do? Huh?

[Pine] They’ll kill every single one of you.

[intriguing music]

[José, in Spanish]

We need to stop that plane.

[object clatters, thuds]

[Pine grunts]

[Sally, in English] It’s important that the plane lands somewhere totally secure. No one knows about this place, right?

Uh-uh.

It hasn’t been used for decades.

[Sally] Okay.

[tense music]

[Sally] Call your team. Tell them to bring cameras, and we’re gonna make this a show.

[in Spanish] Hello, Trujillo, it’s me. Listen, do me a favour. Come to San Marcos straight away. Bring a team. No questions.

[in English] Come on, Basil, don’t let me down.

[epic music]

[breathing heavily]

All okay?

[Sally] Yeah. All good.

LONDON. ENGLAND

[Sandy] Yeah. I just got back, and I am absolutely knackered. I’m being taken to a flat they’ve got for me, some bloody warehouse conversion in sodding Battersea.

[woman] I could come over and help you settle in.

I would love that. But not tonight, my love. I am getting up at the crack of sparrows tomorrow to go up to Oxfordshire. I’m… helping out an old friend.

Well, how about I come over tomorrow instead? We can have dinner.

Darling, I’ll call you back. Excuse me. Where the hell is this?

[driver] It’s the address I was given. What head office gave me.

[Sandy] Well, clearly, head office has ballsed up.

Hold on. I’ll just go and find out.

[locks engage]

[door handle rattling]

[door opens]

Jesus!

Evening, your Lordship.

[sighing] Oh, God.

I wouldn’t bother trying to call Mayra Cavendish if I were you. I’ve got half an army out there.

[Sandy] What do you want?

Well, first I’ve got something to show you, and then you and I can have a chat.

[intriguing music]

Confirmed, Chief. Cargo is in the air.

Fine.

Viktor, get the Jeep ready. Five minutes.

Yes, sir.

[Roper] Juan Miguel, would you be kind enough to book me a car to Bogota airport tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.?

[in Spanish] Yes, sir.

[Roper] Thank you.

[Roper] [in English] My mother was a woman of great economy. When my father’s auction house was struggling, as it often was in times of recession, she could change our lifestyle overnight. Out went the champagne, in came the cheap stuff from Italy. She once persuaded the local vicar, who’d never drank champagne in his life, poor chap, that a glass of Bulmers cider was actually Dom Pérignon. She would start washing the sheets once a month. At boarding school, I got sandwiches instead of the roast beef. I pride myself on being an adaptable man. When circumstances demand I shed a skin and pick up a new one. No regrets. No nostalgia for the past. Nothing is so precious that it can’t be sacrificed. Nothing and no one.

My father was sentimental.

[Roper] But you’re not.

No. No. His death cured me of that.

[Roper] I’m shedding a skin now, thanks to you.

Hmm. What did I do?

[intriguing music]

[Roper] Viktor! Let’s go.

[Viktor] Car’s ready.

[Angela] What have you got yourself involved with, Sandy? Regime change on foreign soil. British diplomat being murdered in his own back garden. [clicks tongue] What’s the parole board going to say?

[Sandy] I have no idea what you’re talking about.

[Angela] Oh. How was the Colombia trip? Flying visit, I hear, was it? Seeing the old man? See, I already know about the coup. I know there are arms being smuggled. I know there’s British money involved. But what I still haven’t got is hard evidence connecting Richard Roper with Mayra Cavendish and the Colombian plot. But you get me that and you can walk away. Squeaky clean. You might even get to see your kids again. But you fail me on this… I will put you away for the rest of your fertile fucking life. Stop taking the bullet for Richard Roper, Sandy. Because I tell you this for free-he will never take one for you. Night, night.

[intriguing music]

[Teddy knocks] Carlos.

[in Spanish] Give me a moment with this son of a bitch. This is personal.

Okay.

[door closes]

[Jonathan grunts]

[in English] Roper’s on his way. Let me see.

[Jonathan sighs]

[Jonathan grunts]

You went too far.

[Pine] It was necessary. Teddy. Listen to me, okay? Deceiving José is one thing. Lying to Roper is another. When you’re with him, you have to make him believe that you still love him. He’s the man in the black car. The father you’ve always adored. You show him nothing less than the devotion he deserves.

[Teddy] Like a dog?

[Pine] Like a dog.

[Pine] Just have faith.

[Teddy] Good bye, Matthew.

[Pine] Have faith.

[Teddy] Okay?

[Pine] That’s good.

[Teddy] Carlos!

[tense music]

[phone buzzes, beeps]

[intriguing music]

[dogs barking]

[in Spanish] Roper must not have any suspicion that you know.

When the plane calls, you give the pilot the wrong coordinates.

Where are we going to send the plane?

An abandoned military base.

It’s called San Marcos. Not too far. I’ve used it a couple of times for cocaine runs to Mexico. It’s safe. These are the coordinates. This is where we send it.

[man whistles]

They’re here!

[Teddy] He’s here.

We welcome him as if nothing happened.

Business as usual.

We’ll deal with him at the drop zone.

[José, in English] Welcome, Richard.

[in Spanish] Hello, José.

[in English] This has been a long time coming.

[Roper] Worth the wait, I hope.

I hope so, too.

[Roper] And there’s the young master. Plane’s in the air. Everything go according to plan here?

[Teddy] Everything went perfectly.

[Roper] Where’s Carrascal?

[Teddy] Gone to the drop zone to make sure it’s ready.

[Roper] Bollocks. He’s doing coke in the bushes somewhere.

[Teddy] Probably.

Let’s go.

[Teddy] Here’s your army. Ready for action.

[Roper] Hey. How old are you?

[Teddy translates into Spanish] Trece. [in English] Thirteen.

Kings of America.

Like you said. Kings of America.

[in Spanish] Freedom.

[people] Blood and freedom.

[José, in English] Come on, Richard, have a seat.

[Roper] Well, thank you, José.

[José] Beer? Want something?

[Roper] Beer would be very nice. Yes. Thank you.

[Consuelo, in Spanish]

Good evening, everyone!

Good evening, Consuelo.

I like your efficiency, Trujillo. I need photos of absolutely everything. I want proof of that British weapon on Colombian soil.

[tense music]

[indistinct radio chatter]

[Roper] [in English] Look at that. Bang on time. Why don’t you do the honours, José?

This is Cabo Cortez. Over.

[man, in Spanish] Please, supply coordinates for landing.

[dialing]

Location received. We will make the drop in exactly one hour.

[Roper] [in English] How’s that? How’s that? Eh?

[chuckles]

[Teddy] Shall we?

[Sally] Consuelo, come here. The plane’s turning east. He’s heading our way.

[in Spanish] Okay. How are you doing?

[Sally, in English] Need one of these over here. Make sure we get everything.

[José] Let’s make it happen.

[Teddy, in Spanish] Let’s go to the drop zone.

[in English] All right, Teddy?

Still angry with me?

[Teddy] No.

I was doing some thinking. I made a mistake with Matthew Ellis. I’m sorry.

[Roper] Well, we’ve all done that sometimes, haven’t we?

[Teddy] All I ever wanted was to please you.

[Roper] And you do. We’re here now. That’s what matters.

[Teddy] Let’s take the jeep.

[Roper] Why not? No sky like a jungle sky.

Up. Let’s go.

I hope you come alone. I do have insurance policies in place.

Where did you get that photograph?

Oh, I’ve been busy, my love. Do you want to see what else I’ve got? The case for the prosecution. Got emails from you to Adam Holywell. I’ve got texts to Miami. Medellín. Got phone records, arms lists. And a handwritten note from your luxurious London address connecting you to Roper’s dirty plot. All I need now is the shipment itself. And that’s on its way, isn’t it?

[tense music]

There’s a plane in the Colombian night sky right now with a shiny British weapon for Roper’s rebel army. But Jonathan Pine’s sending it to me. And when it arrives, it’s going to be an international scandal. Your operation will be exposed. Your investors will be publicly shamed, and Richard Roper will be no more. And as for you, you ordered the execution of Rex Mayhew, one of the gentlest men to ever grace this earth. If it were my choice, you’d be hung drawn and quartered on Westminster Bridge for all to see. But the service wouldn’t survive that. So, tomorrow morning, I want you out. Resignation letter on the desk. And you can piss off.

[in Spanish] Keep your eyes on him.

[in English] Okay. Let’s go.

I despise your kind. Do you know that?

It’s mutual.

I’ve nothing to apologize for. I serve my country. I do the job asked of me and I would happily do it again.

[Roper] Seriously, where the fuck is Carrascal?

On the hill. He’ll be the first one to see the plane.

Now you do the honours, Richard.

Light the welcome fires.

[Angela] Richard Roper is not a job you do. He’s a choice you make. You get into bed with Roper, you get into bed with weapons of death, poison gas, the murder of children who barely breathed God’s air. You have condemned yourself to the lowest circle of hell, and I will take fucking pleasure in hearing you scream.

[tense music]

[plane approaching]

[phone buzzing]

Oh, you’ll want to hear this. It’ll be good. This is London.

This is Consuelo Arbenz, head of the Colombian Supreme Court. I have a visual on the plane, and we’re ready to document the arrival of your British weapon.

[Roper] Plane’s late.

Maybe there’s a headwind.

[Roper] There’s no wind. He should be here.

Maybe it won’t come at all.

[Roper] What do you mean by that? José, if that’s a joke, your timing is fucking awful.

I wish it was.

[in Spanish] Carlos, my son. Bring the Englishman.

[Roper] [in English] What did you just say?

[in Spanish] Coming.

[Roper] [in English] What Englishman?

[José] Your friend. Andrew Birch.

[Pine] I’m sorry, Richard.

They were watching us at the restaurant. They followed me here. They know everything. They’ve sent a plane to another location.

[Roper] You are making a very big mistake. I don’t know what this man has told you, but he is a British intelligence agent.

I know who he is.

[Roper] No, you don’t. I’m telling you, this is a trap.

[José] I know.

[Roper] You don’t know anything.

I know that if I allowed that plane to drop its cargo, I’d be a dead man. But you wouldn’t care, would you? I’m just another Colombian mosquito.

[Pine] Give up, Dickie. Game’s over.

[Roper] Shut the fuck up! All right, José. I’ll give you that one. You’re not to blame. But I want you to listen to me very carefully. That plane’s cargo contains exactly what I promised. A state-of-the-art British electromagnetic pulse weapon. It took off from a military airfield this afternoon on its way here. Teddy. Tell them. Teddy, tell them!

[Teddy] What? What do you want me to say? That you lied to me about everything? That you’ve been using me? That you always planned to go back to England? To your only son Danny. The one that you love so much. Let me tell you something, Dad. You will never see that kid ever again. You die tonight under my Colombian sky. And I will bury you myself.

[tense music]

You are very good.

[Roper] Well, come on then, Teddy! Let’s not disappoint Mr Birch. He’s come a long way for this. Show him what you’re made of. Show him the blood you come from. “If it were done when it is done, then twere well it were done quickly.” Tell you what. Why don’t I count you down? 1,000. Teddy. Come on. 900 and…

[phone ringing]

[Roper] I do believe that’s mine.

[soldier] Hey, hey, hey!

Don’t fucking move! Don’t move.

[Roper] Trust me, José, this is a call you’ll want me to take.

[phone ringing]

[Roper] Evening, Frisky. You’re fucking late.

Sorry, Chief.

[Roper] Bring her in, will you? Now. Where were we?

[plane approaching]

What’s that?

[Roper] That, my friends, is an aeroplane.

[indistinct radio chatter in Spanish]

[José] Ask for backup!

What should we do? Backup! Carlos!

[in English] You fucking stay still!

[Roper] There are no soldiers, José.

[Jonathan] What is it doing here?

[Teddy] I don’t know.

[Roper] See, there are two sides to every story, just as there are sometimes two aeroplanes with two very different cargoes. Watch the cups, Jonathan.

[tense music]

[people shouting]

[indistinct radio chatter in Spanish]

Move, move, move!

Hold on, hold on!

Don’t move! Don’t move!

[in English] Won’t you go and open your present, José?

You’ll never doubt me again.

[José, in Spanish] Keep your guns on those double-crossing sons of a bitches.

Don’t move! Don’t move, asshole!

[tense music]

[indistinct chattering]

Dad, the weapon is here.

[Roper, in English] As I promised.

[Sally] He sent us a fucking red rose.

[Mayra] Case dismissed. Guess I’ll see you around. Must visit you in France one day.

[Roper] You’re a real big game hunter, aren’t you, Jonathan? First my American sweetheart in Majorca. Now my very own son. Always the prized trophy. Just like you’re hell bent on plunging a stake into my fucking heart.

[Pine] You demand love by tyranny, Richard. It’ll only get you so far.

[Roper] Well. We’ll see how far it gets me. As for you, Eduardo. When you were a baby, you had the face of an angel. [in Spanish] I forgive you.[in English] I forgive your immortal soul. But not your mortal one.

[Pine] No!

[gunshots]

[dramatic music]

[Jonathan crying]

[Roper] Just so you know, Jonathan, my offer was real. We could have done so much together.

[José] Richard. Leave that piece of shit to…

[gunshot]

[Carlos, in Spanish]

Son of a bitch! Bastard!

Move, move!

[gunshot]

[Jonathan grunts]

[Roper] [in English] Find him.

[in Spanish] Come!

[in English] Get in!

[Jonathan] Help!

They’re on us.

I can lose them.

Hold on.

[in Spanish] Take him, take him! Go!

[gunshot]

[shouting in Spanish]

[gunshot]

[gunshots]

[Roper in English] Nothing is so precious that it can’t be sacrificed. Nothing and no one. I’m shedding a skin now, thanks to you.

[birds chirping]

It’s been a long day. Okay. I’ve dug deeper into the Holywell files. And there’s something else. There’s something beyond Roper. There’s a bigger game on. And I have a name.

[dog barking]

[dramatic music]

[Roper] Hello, Danny.

[Danny] Hi.

[Roper] Missed your old man? Christ, look at you. What are they feeding you? Ready?

[Danny] Where are we going?

[Roper] I thought I’d bust you out of jail for the weekend. Give you a tour of the new place at Oxfordshire. Sandy showed you the pictures?

[Danny] Yeah. It looks cool.

[Roper] There’s a tennis court at the back. Well, I should warn you, I’ve been practising. Seat belt. Oh, Danny, there was something I wanted to ask you. How would you feel about us getting some dogs?

[Danny] Sounds good.
