Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Season 2 – Episode 5
Episode Title:
We Check In to C.C.’s Spa & Resort
Original release date: December 31, 2025 (Disney+ and Hulu)

Episode plot summary: Percy and Annabeth, survivors of the Ironclad disaster, find themselves rescued by an unlikely savior: the sorceress Circe, who operates a luxurious spa resort where stranded demigods receive training to face the sirens. Her hospitality conceals darker purposes. Circe has spent her exile ensuring that fewer than ten demigods have ever survived the sirens’ song—she prefers company to solitude, even if that company must be kept by force.

The resort functions as psychological preparation ground. Circe guides each demigod toward recognition of their fatal flaw, the weakness that Greek heroes inevitably carry toward destruction. Percy discovers his: a loyalty so absolute he would sacrifice Olympus itself for those he loves. When he voices this truth—that he would burn everything down to save Annabeth—Circe recognizes the threat he poses to her scheme. She transforms him into a guinea pig.

Annabeth must rescue him, but first she faces the sirens. Her own fatal flaw, pride and desperate hunger for maternal approval, makes her vulnerable. She refuses the precautions other demigods require, believing herself strong enough to resist. The sirens craft a vision precisely calibrated to her weakness: Percy and Luke locked in conflict, Grover mediating between them, and then Athena herself descending to protect her daughter. When Annabeth realizes even her mother’s love was illusion, Percy pulls her from the water.

Meanwhile, Grover and Clarisse attempt escape from Polyphemus’s cave. Their plan shows promise—Grover has thought this through—but the cyclops proves smarter than expected. Clarisse suffers repeated setbacks. Their liberation will require reinforcement: Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson must complete the rescue.

The episode concludes with hard-won clarity. Percy and Annabeth acknowledge what the trials have revealed: neither succeeds alone. Whatever darkness approaches, they face it together.

[Percy] Hello?

Don’t go out there. I haven’t had time to make a full scout.

[Percy] You’re… Where are we?

You tell me. I woke up 15 minutes before you did. I don’t know if we’re at sea, or if this is another big ship, or what.

I’m glad to see that you’re awake and refreshed. You need more time. I apologize. I’m Hylla, your concierge. I’ll be right outside with some cucumber water when you’re ready.

[Percy] Wait! Where’s Tyson?

And Clarisse? And the rest of our crew?

Oh. I see. I’m so sorry, but… our fishermen found you floating on a raft. I’m afraid you were the only survivors. Take all the time that you need.

[Percy] I promised my mom I’d take care of him.

He could still be alive. He survived that bomb. He’s fireproof. He’s a son of Poseidon. He could still be alive. So could Clarisse.

[Percy] We lost… everything.

Stay here. I’m gonna go scout ahead.

[Percy] Annabeth!

Welcome to CC’s Island Resort and Spa.

Island? What is this?

Sanctuary. The only sanctuary in the Sea of Monsters. We provide rest and relaxation to get heroes back on track. Now, are there any allergies or food sensitivities that we should be aware of?

Stavros!

Ready.

Sorry about that. I guess Stavros is eager to get back to his quest.

[Percy] What quest?

Every guest is on a quest. Excuse me a moment. That doesn’t happen very often.

What doesn’t?

The Sirens.

CC, our new arrivals.

Son of Poseidon, daughter of Athena. I know you’ve experienced great loss. I am so sorry.

Look, I don’t mean to be…

Impatient.

Noted.

I don’t think that’s your fatal flaw, though. I’m-I’m sensing something deeper. And it’s hard to see past your grief right now. But I think after some rest, we’ll be able to help you figure out what’s wrong with you.

[Percy] Thank you?

Oh. There goes Stavros.

He’s not ready.

Come on.

Think positive, remember?

What’s out there? I don’t see them.

You can look. But I warn you, it’s not pretty. The Sirens’ song is a deadly test which few heroes can pass. I do my best to help them escape the island, but not everyone is patient.

No. No! Oh!

Almost. Alm–

I warned him.

[Percy] What do they sound like?

Well, the song is different for each hero. The Sirens peer into your soul… to see your fatal flaw, and then use that against you. To trap you in an illusion of your own making. You’re safe here and you can stay as long as you like.

[Percy] What was his fatal flaw?

Bravery. Stavros thought that my training was for cowards. But it takes bravery to look inward and confront your true self. That is how we sail past the Sirens.

Or use wax. Like Odysseus.

[Percy] Right. His crew plugged their ears with wax so they couldn’t hear the song.

Sigh. You’re Homer fans, I take it. That man has gotten more demigods killed… It wasn’t ordinary beeswax. It was from Aristaeus’s personal hive.

[Percy] Right, that guy.

Aristaeus is the god of beekeeping.

Excessive reliance on self-knowledge.

Noted.

It’s no judgment. It’s normal for Athena kids. But I’d keep an eye on it, because the Sirens will use your greatest weakness against you. But if you do the work to identify, confront, and suppress your fatal flaw, you will sail past the Sirens like these heroes.

The six who passed.

How long does the training take?

Well, that depends entirely on you.

There has to be another way. We washed ashore on the other side of this island, right? Maybe if we sail out that way.

[Percy] The Sea of Monsters doesn’t work like that.

There is no getting around the Sirens, but I will do my best to help you pass them. Just be warned. There are no shortcuts.

No way.

D-No, don’t!

Dinner! … Mm. Haven’t had demigod in long, long time.

Demigod, eh?

Needs nutmeg. I go get.

Hey, who are you?

Get me… down.

Clarisse, what are you doing here? How’d you get here? Is Percy with you?

Grover, are you gonna help?

What are you doing?

What does it look like? Rescuing myself. … Nice dress.

What’s-What’s happening at camp? Where’s Percy? Is he on the island? Is Annabeth here too? What are you doing?

Making a weapon. Setting an ambush.

Clarisse, please. You don’t know Polyphemus. You can’t beat him.

Percy is dead. And Annabeth. I’m sorry. But no one is coming to help us, and I am not going down without a fight.

No. No, you’re wrong. Percy and Annabeth are still alive. They’re not on this island, but I can sense them. See, I’ve got this empathy link with Percy.

Cool! How does that help us now?

Well, I find that when things go wrong, hope can be a powerful tool. I mean, I’ve been trapped in this cave for days, but that didn’t stop me from plotting escape. Problem was, my plan needed at least one other person and… A lot more rope, which I didn’t have until about five minutes ago. All I had was hope.

What are you yapping about?

The other way out of here.

No one at camp needs to know about this.

[Percy] I don’t even know what you’re talking about.

Hey, guys. Don’t mind the critters. They’re just here for emotional support. Have you ever held a chinchilla?

We’re set, thanks. Kind of in a rush. Our friend really needs our help right now.

Well, we can’t rush the process. But let’s try.

[Percy] Nice trick.

That was magic. Real magic. And these animals? I think I just figured out who you really are.

You mean Circe? Because I’m not trying to hide.

[Percy] Circe the witch?

Sorceress.

Most powerful sorceress. Turned Odysseus’s men into pigs.

Ugh, am I ever gonna live that down? The pigs thing was the old me. I’ve worked through my anger. I have come so far. I’m not a monster. I’m not a god, or a demigod. I am banished here, and I make the best of it by helping people, and I do have other heroes to help, so let’s… Most people don’t like to look at their true reflection, but if we don’t identify what your fatal flaw is, we can’t begin the real work.

What’s yours?

Empathy. I literally can’t help helping people, even when they hurt me.

[Percy] I’ve been through evaluations before. I’ll get this over with.

Percy. Did you save camp?

I think we’ll get good sleep here.

We’re best friends and we’re bros.

Percy, don’t leave.

I have to.

You’ll be safe here, okay? I promise.

He is not a threat. He’s with me!

Percy!

We’re all getting out of here together.

Percy, no! Percy, stand up. I mean it.

It’s okay. I’m okay.

‘Cause you and Annabeth were in trouble. And a real hero stands up for others.

Percy!

Your fatal flaw is very rare and very dangerous. You always put your friends first, don’t you?

[Percy] How is that a bad thing?

To save a friend, you might be forced to do great evil. To save a friend, you might sacrifice a quest. Your soul. You might even sacrifice… the world. That’s actually a sign of growth.

Percy, wait!

[Percy] You were right. You guys should be afraid of me because that lady’s right.

No!

[Percy] Yes, she is. I saw it. I can see it now. Tyson is dead. Grover is lost. So if I had to choose between saving you or saving Olympus… Annabeth… I’d burn it all down. Just like Luke said Thalia would.

If you’re talking about the Great Prophecy, that’s three years away. We need to get past the Sirens and save Grover now.

[Percy] You’re not hearing me. What if we get there and I have to choose between saving Grover and saving camp? Or saving Grover and saving you? My flaw isn’t just fatal to me.

Look, stop. It’s okay.

[Percy] What if I’m more human than demigod? That’s what you were worried about. What you said in the ironclad. Human choices. That’s me. That’s all I am. I haven’t spent enough time in your world to change that. And this was never my quest. I’m a danger to it.

Yadira says hurry up. She can’t hold you forever.

Yadira?

The tree. She’s a Cuban oak, very sassy. And sensitive. So keep climbing.

You’re even weirder than I remember.

Clarisse! Clarisse? Okay. Okay.

Wow! Back so soon?

Wait! Where’s demigod thief?

Oh, Poly. It was awful. She cut herself down and escaped through the top.

You no Cyclops. You tricked me!

N- No! Poly, I would never…

Pomegranate juice?

[Percy] No, thank you. I… don’t think I should be around liquid at the moment.

Don’t get discouraged. You can’t rush the process.

[Percy] Hey, uh, Zadie? How’d they make it through?

Now, see? That’s more like it.

[Percy] I’m not asking for me. My friend needs to get past the Sirens. I want to help her.

Well, rumor around the sauna is that you two are on a quest to the Island of Polyphemus. Me, I’m after a pearl called the Tear of Aphrodite, supposedly deep in the Sea of Monsters.

[Percy] You’re a demigod?

Oh, we’re all demigods here, hun. And we’re all on quests.

[Percy] How long have you been here? If you don’t mind me asking.

Oh, I don’t like to dwell on that. It can make you lose hope. I remember I was about to give up when Mei-Lin here sailed right past the Sirens. Oh, 50 years. It still gives me chills. And then, just when I was starting to get discouraged again, old Chrisopoulos goes and shows us how it’s done.

[Percy] So every time you’re about to lose hope… a hero makes it past the Sirens.

Well, miracles happen. Right?

[Percy] Yeah.

Come in.

[Percy] Sorry for running out earlier.

Well, don’t apologize. Confronting our true selves, our pain, our past, can be scarier than any monster. I know from experience.

[Percy] I know. My mom told me your story. How you help travelers. And how they always leave you behind. Treat you like an obstacle they have to pass. For someone whose fatal flaw is helping people, that’s gotta hurt.

You’re a kind soul.

[Percy] I just remember what it was like to not have any friends. So I get why you want to keep people here.

I don’t know what your mom told you, but I’m the only one cursed to remain on this island. Everyone else is free to leave whenever they want.

[Percy] But most don’t. Instead, they keep training for a program they can never pass.

There are six champions that would say otherwise.

[Percy] ‘Cause you helped ’em cheat. I can’t prove it, but my guess is that you kept some wax to help a few heroes pass the Sirens, which gives everyone else here just enough hope to keep on your program. For as long as it takes.

I help heroes, Percy. That’s all I do.

[Percy] I believe you believe that.

You know, when I first got here, the solitude… was brutal. But then one day, a ship washed up on the shore, and suddenly I had community. You know, I fed them, took care of them, gave them… everything. And then as soon as they got what they wanted, they left and never looked back. And then it happened again with another ship. And another. And another. Because heroes only love you as long as they need you.

[Percy] I won’t tell anyone your secret.

If I help you pass the Sirens?

[Percy] If you help Annabeth.

Fine. I accept your offer to keep my secret.

This is a setback for me. I am not proud of it. But if folks see Annabeth pass the Sirens without taking so much as one class, well, the whole litter might just up and follow her to their doom. I have heroes to help.

Welcome aboard, lad.

The name’s Edward.

Settle in… for good.

[Clarisse] Grover?

Clarisse, in here.

[Clarisse] Grover? Where’s the Cyclops?

Out looking for you. There-There should be a key somewhere in the pile of junk to your left. We don’t have a lot of time.

[Clarisse] What’s the point anyway? This is where she told me it ends, so it’s… It’s over.

Who? Annabeth?

[Clarisse] What? No, the Oracle.

Wh-What did she say? That could help us.

[Clarisse] She told me I’d fly to my final resting place… a tomb of stone. It’s the end I deserve. I made a promise… to my soldiers that I would never let another warrior fall on the battlefield if I could prevent it. Father, forgive me. I failed.

Don’t talk like that. Your father is merciful. He cares for you.

[Clarisse] Ares? Merciful?

I wish to thank you both.

[Clarisse] No! No, no!

Some prophecy may prove useful if your allies show. You both shall make fine bait.

When did I know? From the beginning, I played the poor dumb beast for you. He may be half-blind, but… Polyphemus can smell. Polyphemus can hear. Polyphemus can listen while the deceptive satyr shares dreams with his friend, Percy.

And talks in his sleep.

Oh, hey. It’s nice to see you back.

I’m actually about to leave. I was just looking for Percy. Someone said he came in here.

Annabeth, you’re free to go whenever you want, but without even knowing what your fatal flaw is, the chances of you getting…

Pride. My fatal flaw is pride. It was on my first progress report at Camp Half-Blood. And you know what? I was proud of it.

Daughter of Athena, I should have known. Always vying for mother’s attention while pretending that you’re not. You think she’ll be more disappointed that you died or that you failed?

I’m not gonna die ’cause I’m not gonna fail. I got Zadie to loan me her boat. And she’s agreed to help tie Percy and I to the mast, which is how Odysseus got past the Sirens without plugging up his ears.

Gotcha. I just… I don’t want to poke holes. But who’s going to steer the boat?

Look. Rope and pulley system tied to a steering stick we lock into place. My dagger is attached to this winch, which rotates on a timer. And once we get past the Sirens, the blade cuts us loose.

Clever. I hope it’s clever enough.

Annabeth? What’s the matter?

I, um… I guess I’m worried you’re right. That it’s not gonna work. I think I am more afraid of failing my mother than dying.

Kiddo… you’re talking to someone who gets it. My mother invented magic.

Yeah, I’ve only seen Athena a couple times in my life. I thought I was okay with that. Until I met Percy. His mom was always there for him. Sometimes I wonder what that would be like. Sometimes it makes me angry. But what makes me even more angry, is the thought of someone trying to take him from her.

Wait!

What on earth?

Oh, my back.

A little help here!

After her, you lot! Come on, lads! Get the witch.

Out of my way!

[Percy] You okay?

Yeah.

[Percy] Oh, hold on. I saw where she keeps it. Wax. You’re gonna need it.

Take your share, Percy. Much obliged.

[Percy] Eddie?

Call me Blackbeard.

[Percy] Here, let’s put in CC’s wax before we get too close. Oh, no.

What?

[Percy] It’s barely enough for one of us.

No!

[Percy] You take the wax, I’ll take the mast. … Hurry!

Yep, that’s tight enough.

[Annabeth] Okay, so…

[Percy] What do we do now? Cut me loose! Annabeth, the Sirens are just ahead. Annabeth! No. Don’t do this. Untie me. Please, let me help.

I can do this.

[Percy] Don’t… Don’t believe anything you see or anything you hear. Just… just untie me, please? Please help me. Listen to me, Annabeth! Annabeth! Just untie me, please. Please! Annabeth!

You want some words of wisdom?

Mother.

I’ve never seen anyone set a trap for the Sirens. Until today.

I didn’t know you were watching.

I was always watching.

[Percy] Annabeth! Annabeth!

We passed so many impossible trials, I thought… You know, beat the Sirens, end the war, bring everyone together, and then my mother would… That’s pride. That’s hubris.

[Percy] That’s human. You want her to notice you. She should.

What did you see when you heard their song?

[Percy] Just you. If you weren’t on those rocks, who knows what I would’ve seen. I think you… shielded me. I think you saved me.

If you stayed at camp, I’d be Siren chow. You definitely saved me.

[Percy] Maybe we both had to be here to get past them. Like the one version of fate that doesn’t suck.

Yeah, that’s true. … What?

[Percy] Thirty. Thirty-one. Seventy-five. Twelve. We’re here.
