Gen V – S02E07 – Hell Week | Full transcript

Pathetic, worthless piece of crap!

Pink little dumpster baby!

[dramatic music playing]

[Cipher] Remember that your value in this world comes and goes with your powers, and without them, you are nothing.

My job is not to baby you.

It is to push your powers to their fullest potential.

You can all level up… Marie!

…under the right amount of pressure. My mission is to cull this herd.

[grunts]

What the fuck?

[Marie] It was a mistake, leaving you.

I should’ve come back.

[gasping]

[Emma] She brought her sister back to life, and that’s what they call a fucking miracle.

How’d you do it?

I just listened to what Cipher said, and I just fixed it.

He’s almost here.

[Marie] So, you can predict the future?

[Annabeth] I just get visions. I just can’t control when.

You’re a precog.

[Marie] If I am this Odessa, I’m the only one who can beat Cipher.

I think you can fix my powers.

Maybe I can use them to help you.

[Marie] You think that’s Thomas Godolkin?

The answers to controlling Cipher, to controlling all Supes, could lie inside his head.

[Marie] So, you think he could stop Cipher.

If that’s Godolkin, he can stop Homelander.

[ominous music playing]

[eerie thudding and crashing]

Marie.

Marie. Marie!

[panting]

Marie. Marie!

[pounding on door]

[groans] Jesus, what?

Where’s Marie?

[suspenseful music playing]

Shit, I don’t know.

Oh, fuck. Marie!

Marie! Marie!

Marie!

Hey, wait.

Hey. What is it?

II… saw something.

Marie… in trouble.

In trouble, how?

Um, blood. There-there was blood, and-and she was on the ground, not moving.

What the fuck? Marie!

Marie!

[Emma] Guys!

What the fuck with the yelling?

[Jordan] Have you seen Marie?

What… what is wrong?

I don’t know.

She said that she saw something.

You’re sure it wasn’t just a bad dream or some…

No, no, it wasn’t, it wasn’t a dream.

She was hurt, oror it could be fucking worse.

Hey, has anybody seen Cate? She didn’t sleep in her room last night.

Wait, Cate and Marie’s gone, too?

That…

Aw, fuck.

Someone used the elevator to leave.

[Sam] I don’t get it.

Why would they leave without telling anyone?

No, no, no. Goddamn it, Marie.

I know you didn’t fucking leave me behind again.

Jordan? What?

I need to talk to your grandfather.

Would he let us take his car?

I’ll get him.

You-you want his car?

How do you think you’re gonna find ’em?

‘Cause I know where they went.

[dramatic music playing]

Okay, come on.

Cipher’s place is like five minutes from here.

Marie?

We can cut through the trees so no one sees us coming.

Marie.

Cate, we’re not talking about this again.

Jordan and I barely made it into Cipher’s place last time because my powers are so fucked up.

I’m sure I can manage.

If you didn’t want me here, then why did you let me come?

Because you would’ve told the others what I was doing.

You can help.

Just keep an eye out while I go in to find Godolkin.

But if you heal me, then I can make sure the guard doesn’t stop us.

Cate, I can’t.

Yes, you can. You just don’t want to.

Cate, I tried to heal you when your skull was broken. I couldn’t.

You’re stronger now.

You probably couldn’t have saved your sister two weeks ago, but now you can.

And you did.

And you can heal me.

We don’t know that.

Can you at least try?

We’re not doing this right now.

Marie, hey, hey. I know I fucked up.

I thought I knew what was fucking best.

I was so sure I was better than all of you, and stronger.

I believed all the shit they told me.

That’s how they get you, how they control you.

But I’ve seen who they are and how wrong I was.

I’m promising you, I will never use my powers on any of you again, ever.

Right.

So, now, because you’re broken, you’re making promises, and I’m just supposed to trust that you won’t go back to being that person as soon as you’re fixed?

I’m gonna prove it to you somehow.

You’ll see. I’m different.

Look, let’s just grab some clothes and get out of this Elmira shit.

Yeah.

Can you just slow down?

You’re not one of those assholes who feel more comfortable when a dude’s driving, are you?

What? No.

God, n-no.

Oh.

Good.

Don’t worry.

Sam and Emma will get to Marie fast and tell her what you saw.

Uh, so-so, Sam… uh, he flies?

He jumps. Big jumps.

Faster than we can drive.

I guess you haven’t spent a ton of time around other Supes.

No, uh, not really.

It’s not always like this.

I mean, 80% of the time.

But… the rest is super boring.

I love boring.

How long have you had your powers?

A while. Since I was little.

I, um… started having these nightmares.

It was every night for a few days.

They scared the hell out of me, and then, one day… it-it came true.

When I first got mine, I…

I hid them for a while, too.

Why?

I was afraid my dad wouldn’t approve.

And I was right. But I’m glad I have them.

I can’t imagine myself… being me without them.

Yeah.

[sniffles]

Um…

Uh, so-so, you and my sister.

You guys are girlfriend-boyfriend… girlfriend or something?

I thought we were.

[suspenseful music playing]

Okay, I thought you said he had guards.

♪ ♪

[Cate] That’s where Cipher kept him.

[slow, faint heartbeat]

There’s someone in there.

Heartbeat.

Very weak.

[Cate] That’s got to be him.

♪ ♪

I thought you said there was a heartbeat.

[Polarity] We just missed him.

[both gasp]

[Cate] Oh, Jesus.

I wasn’t that far behind Cipher.

He must’ve just taken the old man with him.

[groans softly]

Are you okay?

What… why did he take him?

I don’t know.

He’s out of his fucking mind.

Saying shit like “culling the herd.”

He wants to kill every Supe he thinks is weak.

Whoa.

No, I have to keep after him.

No, you need to sit down.

You… don’t look good.

You don’t understand.

With my powers, somehow I’m able to keep him from controlling me.

Maybe from controlling any of us.

[Cipher] A magnetic pulse interrupts the neurons?

Somehow, uh, shorted out the neural electrical activity.

Hmm, but-but-but…

Then if he commands that, fucks with the synapses, boots me out of his brain…

[sighs]

Yeah, it’s over.

[ominous music playing]

[grunting] [muffled groaning]

[panting]

Yeah, I should probably just end it, huh?

[phone chiming]

[pants sharply]

[canister clanks]

[phone clicks]

[breathes deeply]

Look who it is.

Marie came back, just like Sage said that she would.

It may be time for a very big sacrifice.

How is that?

[Cate] Uh, he doesn’t have any medicine, and the only thing in his fridge are those fucking gross blender drinks.

Why the fuck did you come back here?

All he wants is you.

You got to get far, far away.

[Marie] We think the man Cipher was keeping in that thing was Thomas Godolkin.

Thomas what?

What are you talking about?

That’s crazy.

Not according to Stan Edgar.

Edgar believes if we can get to Godolkin, he can take down Cipher.

Even if this insanity were true, you’re gonna trust that Godolkin’s gonna help?

Based on?

Based on Cipher holding him hostage like some weird trophy.

He’s gonna want payback.

Enemy of my enemy.

Look, Godolkin could be the key to everything.

To taking down Homelander.

Godolkin might be even more dangerous.

I don’t think we have a choice.

No.

I knocked him out of me.

There’s got to be a way I can do it again.

Even if you can, knocking him out isn’t the same thing as stopping him for good.

We still don’t know shit about him, except how powerful he is.

And whatever you did kicked your ass.

You look like you couldn’t even stop me, let alone Cipher.

I can’t…

With… with what he did to Andre?

[lights clinking softly]

[ominous music playing]

H-He…

[objects rattling]

What is happening?

[glass shatters]

[strained grunting] He’s having a seizure.

What did you do?

How?

The tremors… they’re gone.

I’ve been sick for so long.

I forgot what it’s like to feel healthy.

I forgot.

I forgot.

[panting] Thank Christ.

I froze my tits off up there.

Um…

Get me behind that tree.

Okay.

No peeking.

I’m not gonna peek.

I’m-I’m not a perv.

[Rufus] Yo, Sam.

Dude, where have you been?

Oh…

It’s hell week, and you’re totally shirking, bro.

Kind of had some other things going on, actually.

Yeah, well, we’ve all got lives, dude, but we make time for what’s important, which is the brotherhood, first and foremost.

Yeah.

Give him Hemple.

Right. Uh, Hemple is red?

I don’t know. You’ve got, like, one job, man.

We’re giving you a pledge, and it’s your job to put through hell this week.

No, guys, seriously, II don’t have time.

Make the time.

[Black Hole straining] It is your duty to teach these pledges.

You took an oath.

That is your responsibility as a brother.

Oh.

And this fraternity…

Oh.

[straining]

[grunts] [Rufus] Get the fuck over here.

This is Sam.

He owns you now.

No.

[laughs]

[grunts] I thought you were fucking dead or something.

Not dead. Okay.

I’m just really glad that wasn’t “goodbye” last time I saw you.

Yeah. Look, things are somehow more fucked than before.

I’m in. How do I help?

Okay. Okay.

We need to find Marie, like now.

Have you seen her?

No, I haven’t.

But I can do a flyover. I can see if I can spot her.

Here, let me take you up. You’ll love the view from up there.

No, no. Uh…

We’ll keep searching the ground if you can take the air.

[Greg] Wait, him?

You trust that guy?

The guy in the diaper? I don’t fucking know him.

No, Sam Riordan.

Sam? Yeah, why?

Everyone knows that he’s deep up Vought’s ass. Isn’t he?

Who the fuck is that dude?

Sam has never had anyone looking out for him.

Ever. The guy’s been institutionalized half his life.

You know, everyone constantly fucking with his head.

Look, it’s complicated.

Yeah.

[Emma] Hey, hello?

So, Greg’s gonna eye-in-the-sky it, see if he can spot Marie.

I say we split up, cover more ground, and you and… butt-boy…

Hemple.

Right, okay, go by the theater.

I’m gonna check Cipher’s room, the dorm rooms, and I told Greg to meet us in the Student U in, like, tenish.

Cool?

Yeah, ookay.

Well, uh, I’ll go, um…

I’ll go that… that way.

I feel your pain, brother.

I mean, she might not see it, but I do.

Gimme some knucks.

[scoffs]

[dramatic music playing]

[sighs]

Well, we’re gonna have to search this whole goddamn campus.

[sighs] Marie, you’re a heartbeat detector.

If he’s hiding Godolkin, you can find him.

If the campus was empty, yeah, maybe I could pick out an old, weak heartbeat, but… there’s just too many people.

Well, Marie, we don’t need a heartbeat detector.

If Cipher’s hauling around a 100yearold invalid, somebody saw something.

And we do have someone who could read every mind on campus.

If you do to her what you did to me…

I…

No. Did she ask you to say that?

She didn’t say anything, it’s just an idea that makes sense.

Well, the risk is greater than the reward on this one, so…

[Polarity] I get it.

After what she did to you, after what she did for Vought, but… you risked your ass to rescue her.

She was in Elmira because of us.

She deserved to be rescued, but that does not mean that I trust her.

Thank you. [scoffs] She won’t listen to reason on this one.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Uh…

“Listen to reason”?

Do I have to spell out the entire fucking list of reasons?

No, I’m sorry, I…

You used your powers against us.

Against me, Jordan, Luke.

Andre.

You betrayed us to Vought.

You’re the reason we were in Elmira.

You’re the reason Andre is dead.

Marie!

I’m not making any excuses, but the Vought machine makes you do things that you never thought…

If you want to blame someone for Andre, blame me.

I didn’t protect him the way I should have.

I knew…

I knew my powers were killing me and I didn’t tell him.

I didn’t tell him the same fucking thing could happen to him.

I can’t trust someone like her with that kind of power again.

Well… if anyone else has any other thoughts on how to find this fuck, I’m open.

[telephone ringing]

[Cipher] Marie, welcome back. Don’t suppose you’re here to complete your training.

Did Polarity tell you my offer?

Train with me and you and your friends will have complete amnesty.

[doors close over phone] He told me you want to “cull the herd.”

Kill the useless Supes.

Wait, are you after me? Oh, Marie, you’re adorbs. You think you’re gonna save everybody?

Or are you just angry about what I did to your baby sister? You sliced open her throat.

Yeah, and then you fixed it, like I knew you would.

You would never have achieved that level of power without that seminal moment, so you’re welcome, Boo.

You’re sick.

You’re insane.

And you’re on the verge of becoming the most powerful entity to ever walk this planet, and you know it.

You’re destined for such greatness. You know you’re better, you’re stronger than the others. Embrace it.

Think about my offer.

It’s the only road out for all of you.

[line disconnects]

[sighs] Well?

I heard the training room doors close.

He’s there.

[tense, dramatic music playing]

Oh!

[gasping] Oh!

What?

Help me.

[Annabeth gasping]

We have to hurry. It’s closer.

Okay.

Okay, you got to help me out, here. What do you see?

A big room.

Um, II don’t know, uh…

Uh… it’s-it’s tall pillars, and then there’s bars on the windows and…

The Seminar. Come on, come on.

Okay, this way.

[tense, dramatic music playing]

[indistinct chatter]

[Sam] I’m telling you, go.

Just git, man.

I don’t want whatever you are.

Bondage baby. They call us bondage babies.

And I know you’re just trying to trick me.

No, it’s not a fucking trick. Go away.

Welp, that’s just what someone trying to trick a bondage baby would say.

[Emma] Excuse me. Excuse me.

What?

Hey.

No Marie, no Cate at Cipher’s place or the dorm rooms.

On a positive note, I grabbed clothes that don’t smell like wet donkey balls.

Oh. Nothing from Greg?

No, nothing from Greg.

So, uh, what’s his deal?

Greg is a friend.

Friend.

No, but if I wanted to be more than friends, that is zero of your business.

Greg could fingerfuck me till he comes, and you would have no right to be jealous.

Are we clear on that?

Okay. Yeah, yeah.

Emma, look, this is just, this is all new to me. Okay?

Like… like feeling, I guess…

[quiet, introspective music playing] …jealous.

Fucking feeling anything.

Look, my head is-is telling me not to be like that, but II think that I just, yeah, I think I need some time, II need some time to work on it, to try to be fucking… normal.

I’m sorry. I’m sorry.

I’m sorry I’m being…

I’m being weird.

[chuckles]

Sam, you’re not.

You’re just being you.

[Greg] Emma!

Found her. Seminar Building.

Wait, you sure?

Yeah, I’ll fly you over.

No, that’s okay, man.

I got her.

No, dude, it’s no problem.

No, I can jump way faster than you can fly, so…

[Greg] Um…

I doubt that. Pretty sure flying’s faster.

Jumping might…

[dramatic music playing]

[Marie] There’s lots of people inside.

But he’s there.

Cipher?

Godolkin.

One weak heartbeat.

I think he’s dying.

There must be a basement.

The heartbeat’s coming from below us.

[Jordan] Marie! Wait! Wait!

Shit.

[Emma] Marie!

[Jordan] Wait.

Hey!

Just don’t do anything until you talk to Annabeth.

What’s this about?

Nothing.

I didn’t ask any of you to come.

You should’ve just stayed where it was safe.

No, you’re gonna get hurt, Marie. Or worse.

[Jordan] If you go in there, something bad is going to happen.

“Something bad.”

Like…

Like you’ll die, Marie.

I think a lot of people will.

That’s why you need to turn and go now.

I’ve seen it more than once.

Look, it-it’s you, and you’re in a pool of blood and you’re hurt.

You don’t know that.

Um, she can see the future.

I’m pretty sure she might know that, Marie.

No offense, but she’s a precog who got herself caught by Vought, thrown in a cell and her throat cut.

She didn’t know any of that.

Marie…

[Marie] No!

If there is danger, it’s because you followed me.

I can handle Cipher.

[Annabeth] Marie.

Before it happened with Mom and Dad, I had a nightmare.

I saw them. I saw them dying and dead in a pool of blood.

[contemplative music playing]

I’ve lived my whole life knowing I could have stopped it, and I didn’t and-and it’s… it’s been easier for me to hate you all this time instead of hate myself, but I hate myself anyway.

I don’t want it to happen again.

Please.

Just stop.

Annabeth.

I’m so sorry that you’ve had to live with that.

All this time.

But I have to do this.

Marie…

This is bigger than us.

I am the only one who can wake up Godolkin, stop Cipher, stop Homelander.

So please.

Just go!

Marie!

She just told you how this ends.

I can’t let you go in there.

I’m sorry.

[heartbeat increasing]

[wincing]

Marie, stop!

What are you doing?

[all whimpering]

Cate.

Make them go away from here.

Will you do that?

But the question is…

Can you guess where I’ll be next?

Sam, it’s me!
