[“Eau Froide” by Rallye playing]
[Emily] Oh!
Merci, Madame Bernard.
When I am in Rome, your bread, I am missing me.
[speaking in French]
“When I was in Rome, I missed your bread.”
When I was in Rome…
…I missed your bread.
There you go!
Italian bread is disgusting.
I don’t understand.
[Emily laughs]
[speaks indistinctly] Goodbye.
[speaking in French] Welcome back!
Thank you, Claudette!
These flowers… magnificent… he are very.
[gasps]
[tires screech]
[song stops]
Watch where you’re going!
You nearly killed me!
[in English] The French are so rude.
[in English] Oh my God, you think I’m French? Thank you!
Oh my God!
[“Codéine” by Metro Verlaine playing]
[in French] Who the fuck are you?
[song fades]
[in French] Who the fuck are you?
The owner of that robe.
[in French] Sylvie.
Weren’t you supposed to be in Rome ’til tomorrow evening?
Well, surprise, I’m back now.
I’ll get dressed.
[speaks in French]
[door opens]
You were just with someone in Rome.
[door closes]
So… new rule.
Your lovers don’t wear my clothes.
And don’t spend the night in my bed.
I’m going out for a coffee.
When I get back, I want the girl gone.
And you’re buying me a new robe.
The same one.
[“Sous les Néons” (feat. Jeanne Bonjour) by Slowaves playing]
[camera clicks]
[keypad clacking]
[message whooshes]
Ah!
Look at you!
Headlining at the Crazy Horse again.
[Mindy] Oh, yeah.
[in French] I am very proud of you.
[in French] Thank you, my dear friend.
[in English] So, are you feeling okay being back in Paris?
[in English] Yeah.
I mean, I know how excited you were about everything in Rome.
Yeah, I’m… I’m putting Rome in my rearview mirror.
All of it.
Wait, you still haven’t talked to Marcello?
No.
But, you know, honestly, I think it’s for the best.
I’m moving on.
No commitments, no entanglements.
[mischievous music playing]
[message chimes]
You know, when was the last time that you and I were single together in Paris?
[message chimes]
Yea-Yeah, it’s been a long time.
[laughs nervously]
Too long! [laughs] Let’s
let’s do something bad!
Whoo!
Um, well, I’ve-I gotta get ready for work, but…
[in French]
Help yourself to bread and cheese.
Mmm. Yummy.
[music fades]
[quirky pensive music playing]
[gasps] Hey! Welcome back from Rome.
[music fades]
[curses in French]
[in English] What is this mess?
How could you let it go so out of hand?
Sorry.
I actually had a lot going on while you all were away.
Well, now that we’re back and you are relieved of your enormous responsibilities, can you please clean all this up?
So, I heard Emily got the agency fired, and then her boyfriend dumped her.
You don’t have to sound so happy about it.
I’m not. I’m just…
Emily!
Hi, welcome back!
Or should I say, bonjour, bitch?
Excuse me?
It’s my new line. I needed something to do while you were in Rome.
Ah. Interesting.
And bonjour to you, bitch.
Ah.
I once said that to my 6th grade teacher, Mademoiselle Dupont.
I thought it was funny.
She hit my knuckles with a ruler.
Okay, um…
Well, I’m hoping Agence Grateau will help me market them.
Will you put in a good word with Sylvie?
Uh, are you crazy?
You’re already not doing the job you have.
Love the entrepreneurial spirit, Genevieve.
But after everything that happened with Muratori and just Rome in general, I think we have to tread lightly.
Yeah.
Sylvie!
[lively lilting music playing]
Bonjour, bitch.
[music fades]
Is the Zoom set up for our meeting with Thomas Heatherton?
Um…
Right, the Zoom. Of course.
I’m on it.
[sighs] As you are all aware, we lost a few clients during our Roman adventure.
I cannot overstate how important it is that Thomas Heatherton is happy with the event this weekend.
Heatherton Hotel Paris is his first in France, and even though it’s a soft launch for the travel press, it needs to come off flawlessly.
Then we will all be determined not to fuck this one up.
That just fills me with confidence.
[quirky pensive music playing]
No, you keep it.
[music fades]
Okay, I know I set this up.
[speaks in French]
[in English] Someone!
[computer chimes]
Ah. Hello, everyone.
Mr. Heatherton!
Thomas.
[Sylvie] Thomas!
We are all very excited about the opening this week, as the Heatherton Hotel Paris is going to bring Paris to Paris.
We have created an iconic Parisian experience.
Guests will enter the lobby through a replica of the Eiffel Tower.
In the ballroom, we’ll have L’Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre, Notre Dame.
Are you going to put them on a hopon hopoff bus as well?
If you want it.
Look, I know my team signed off on this, but I’m just hearing it, and I… hate it.
Oh…
Well, uh, the opening is in three days, but we can…
Pivot.
Uh…
Yeah.
Uh…
[Emily] Um…
[lilting pensive music playing]
Well, um, what if we tried to activate a real Parisian experience?
My favorite thing about the city, other than famous sites, is my neighborhood and all the shopkeepers that I interact with every day.
So, for the event, what if we recreate their storefronts and have guests sample their products?
[Luc chuckles]
Sorry, did we lose you?
Oh…
[softly] Genevieve!
Ah-Oh, merde, he is frozen.
No, I’m thinking.
Oh.
[lilting pensive music continues]
Let’s, um… Let’s do it.
And, I know this adorable local fashion designer who can provide some chic logo hats.
Yeah, just keep my team posted.
It’s all heading in the right direction.
Great, we’ll work on it.
[Luc] Byebye.
[computer chimes]
[chuckles]
[lilting music playing]
Good save, Emily.
Really? Thank you.
[music stops]
Does Genevieve think she’s a fashion designer now?
Well, she certainly isn’t a capable assistant.
Maybe we gave her too much responsibility too soon.
She’s a nepo baby. That’s how they roll.
Maybe we should give her less, as in nothing at all.
Even if I wanted to fire her, it’s complicated, okay?
For all the obvious nepo reasons.
Okay, you two, out.
Uh, maybe I could talk to her?
I had a mentor when I was starting out.
I could pay it forward.
Yeah, fine.
But first, I need you to talk to Gabriel.
Gabriel? Why?
He and Antoine are arguing over menu changes at the restaurant, and I told Antoine I would send over the chef whisperer to mediate.
Oh, that’s me?
I don’t know if that’s a great idea.
I haven’t spoken to Gabriel in a while.
I don’t know if he’d call me a friend now.
Well, we still call him a client.
So, please go do your job.
[quirky nervous music playing]
[Emily] Hm.
Go, Emily.
Go.
Okay.
[exhales deeply]
[music fades]
[sentimental pensive music playing]
[Antoine] People want butter.
They want cheese.
They want meat.
Not mushroom masquerading as meat.
Uh, knock-knock.
[music fades]
Emily. Hi.
This is a surprise.
Yeah, Sylvie sent me.
Um, I understand you’re having some creative differences.
Oh, yeah. He’s being impossible.
I wanna change the menu.
He won’t even try it.
That menu earned the Michelin star, and he’s completely torn it apart.
Plant-based cooking is the future.
It’s sustainable, it’s more economical.
That’s not why people come to my restaurant.
People come to our restaurant to eat my food.
Okay, there must be some way to compromise.
Okay? Yes, the menu right now is amazing.
And it’s award-winning.
See?
But the chef who earned that award should be allowed some leeway to try new things.
But if you are gonna, you know, change the menu, we should allow time to market it properly.
Either he cooks the menu that everybody loves, or I find someone who will.
[Emily groans]
He thinks it’s such a threat firing me.
I get offers all the time.
Okay, just don’t defect until we’ve exhausted all of our options.
Okay, I won’t.
So… you’re back.
[lilting poignant music playing]
Okay, I’m pretty sure you saw me, and then you just rushed down the stairs.
I wasn’t sure you wanted to see me.
Okay, well, now I’m back for good, so… you’re kind of stuck with me.
You’re not returning to Rome?
No, I’m not.
Rome is… over.
So, yeah, the next time we see each other, can we just say, “Bonjour,” s’il te plaît?
[chuckles softly] Um…
Welcome home.
Merci.
Um…
See you soon, then.

So Gabriel is your solution?
You’re sending Antoine’s head chef to cook for someone else?
You were supposed to bring these two hotheads together, not push them apart.
No, it’s perfect, okay?

Plus, it’ll make Antoine so jealous.
And why would I want that?
Uh, so he can finally get off your back, and you can change the menu.
Seeing you cook for a major player who owns yachts and rocket ships is a huge blow to his ego.
