Israel, emboldened by the impunity provided by U.S. support, continues to fuel the conflict in the Middle East with bombings and attacks across various countries, disregarding international law. Its aim seems to be provoking a regional war, but Hezbollah remains defiant. Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s leader, warns that the conflict will persist as long as the genocide in Gaza continues, and Israel risks defeat if it refuses to agree to a ceasefire. Meanwhile, the international political scene is marred by hypocrisy and complicity, unable to stop the escalation.

The massacres in Lebanon prove that Israel is being led by criminals. They’re doing everything possible to provoke a regional war, targeting embassies, killing rivals abroad, and bombing Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Yemen with total disregard for international law. This is possible because the Israeli lobby has bought American political backing, guaranteeing them a constant flow of funds, weapons, and political cover that ensures impunity.
Despite recent successes at the UN, Palestine’s achievements on paper differ greatly from the grim reality on the ground. The blame lies not only with the U.S. but also with its hypocritical colonies, like Italy, which refrain even from condemning crimes against humanity.
Netanyahu and his allies are trying to drag the U.S. into direct confrontation with Lebanon and, more importantly, Iran, because they know Israel risks losing if it acts alone. While Israel has air superiority, Hezbollah has spent years preparing for conflict, and now the skies are filled with dangers. If Israel wants to reach the Litani River, it will need to initiate a ground invasion, a tactic that failed disastrously in 2006, and Hezbollah has only grown stronger since. That’s why Israel hesitates, trying to pull the U.S. Marines into the conflict. The recent massacres in Lebanon are yet another attempt to stoke the flames and manipulate the situation, blaming others for the reactions their own actions have provoked.
Nasrallah’s recent speech declared that Israel has crossed all limits but emphasized that their primary goal remains a ceasefire in Gaza. As long as the genocide continues, the displaced Israelis from Northern Galilee will not be able to return home. Nasrallah frightens Israel because he seems to have the luxury of time, something the Israelis don’t. And time, in war, is everything. If Netanyahu were to yield to Hezbollah’s conditions, it would be a humiliating double defeat for him and his fanatical allies.
Only a new government in Tel Aviv might open the door to change. Contrary to the narrative pushed by the mainstream press, Hezbollah and Iran have tried to avoid an escalation during this tumultuous year, while the Israeli government only sees violence as a way out of the dead end it has reached. Zionists are closer than ever to achieving their long-held ambitions and are unwilling to lose this historic opportunity. Fanatics, as history has shown, operate with unwavering certainty, constantly on the offensive—until they crash.
The White House hasn’t fully conceded to Netanyahu yet because it recognizes this is one of two flashpoints that could spark World War III. Iran is linked to Russia, which is connected to China, and this geopolitical bloc is consolidating against Western hegemony. This bloc, for the first time, has the economic and military weight to compete with NATO. Similar dangers are present in Ukraine, where irresponsible politicians are playing with fire by authorizing long-range missiles. But it’s the poor, not the politicians, who will die in the trenches, while the majority of citizens who have been calling for peace and common sense will become the targets of nuclear warheads. These crises reveal the disastrous consequences of being governed by such leaders. Global power balances are shifting, and we are facing unprecedented scenarios, yet these politicians can’t see beyond their selfish ambitions.
The White House is also holding out because their commander has lost control, and with the U.S. elections only two months away, anything is still possible. Trump remains in the race, and as the gap between candidates narrows, even minority votes grow in importance. American Muslims, young Democrats, and idealist voters are repelled by the genocide in Gaza. If Kamala Harris doesn’t drastically change course, they’ll either stay home or opt for Jill Stein’s Green Party, which is enjoying a surge. The Green Party even supports an arms embargo on Israel, and ironically, Stein herself is Jewish, which undermines anti-Semitic propaganda.
Still, 68% of American Jews support Harris, and for decades the pro-Israel lobby has backed the Democrats. Biden, who is now remembered as the most Zionist U.S. president, has further entrenched this relationship.
This is Western decline in full display. As blood is shed in rivers on the battlefield, with two hotspots potentially igniting a third world war, and as global power dynamics shift in unprecedented ways, politicians remain blind to anything beyond their own petty careers.
