The Hunger in Gaza, Jill Stein, and True Democracy

Harris may be leveraging Gaza's crisis for votes, while Jill Stein stands as a rare voice of true democracy, free from lobbyists and critical of bipartisan hypocrisy.

Gaza is once again facing hunger because Israel is blocking humanitarian convoys. Meanwhile, Harris is hungry for votes, and this timing seems to have stirred things up. The U.S. sent a letter to Netanyahu, stating they would suspend arms deliveries if the humanitarian crisis in Gaza doesn’t improve within 30 days. Netanyahu’s fury has filtered through the American Jewish lobby, which is outraged. Israel has long received massive aid unconditionally—mountains of money and weapons that allow them to commit crimes if they so wish. They cannot accept that this ironclad alliance is being threatened during a war. And they have a point: without American support, the Zionists would be left with no option but to flee.

Some see the letter as a positive sign, while others view it as merely an electoral maneuver. The 30-day window is suspicious, conveniently lasting just long enough to pass the presidential elections. After all, to open the gates and allow humanitarian convoys through, all Netanyahu needs to do is make a phone call, while Harris has an immediate need for support. The establishment backing her unanimously expected a triumphant run, but she’s now fighting for every vote against the decrepit Trump. This is due to her lack of personal appeal and her disastrous complicity in genocide. Many Democratic voters can no longer turn a blind eye, while Muslim Americans aren’t even considering voting for Harris. This is a major problem, especially in swing states where every vote counts.

And so, we have this letter, plus a few more remarks in favor of the poor Palestinians—not out of conviction, but out of convenience for herself and the establishment that controls her. Even Obama has stepped in to support her, tearfully questioning how we ended up with an old, narcissistic, and pathological liar like Trump. Obama could find the answer by looking in the mirror. For decades, people have been fooled by figures like him and have consistently been let down. This is because today, once in power, politicians serve the lobbying establishment rather than ordinary people, while horrors like war never take a break.

That’s why unconventional figures like Trump are gaining ground across the West. It’s a reaction by citizens to the betrayal of hypocritical, elitist politics. The tendency to cheer rather than participate, combined with widespread existential malaise, has done the rest. Jill Stein, the leader of the American Green Party, has explained it well. Thanks to her pro-Palestinian stance, she’s enjoying a political resurgence. Stein explains that in the U.S., people vote more out of hatred for the other candidate than out of love for their own. Beneath it all, there’s no real political alternative—just two sides of the same worthless coin.

Bipartisanship is a disgrace, especially in times of uniform thinking, and it exists to prevent any true opposition, keeping the system stable. Stein is the outsider, and her votes could be useful to Harris, which is why Democrats have targeted her. The main accusation against her is that she’s helping Trump, consistent with a political landscape where electoral strategies matter far more than ideas and values. But Jill Stein’s real crime is being free from lobbyists and representing only her community. She reminds the heart of the U.S. of how true democracy should work.

Jill Stein is free, and so she can speak the truth about the millions of Americans who forego medical care because it’s too expensive and struggle to pay rent, while the White House squanders enormous resources on the endless war industry. Jill Stein is free, and so she can call what’s happening in Gaza a shameful genocide, part of an ethnic cleansing that’s been going on for decades. She has called for an embargo for over a year. No belated letters, no fake bipartisanship, no electoral strategies. Rebuilding a democracy that truly represents its citizens is the historical priority in the West—the only way to prevent such tragedies and restore peace.
