Warfare (2025), directed by Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza, is a gripping war drama based on true events from the Iraq War. The film follows a Navy SEAL platoon pinned down in a house in Ramadi during a brutal firefight in 2006. Known for its intense realism and immersive storytelling, Warfare highlights the courage, chaos, and brotherhood of soldiers facing life-threatening combat. With a cast including D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Will Poulter, and Cosmo Jarvis, the film offers a raw, moment-by-moment depiction of modern warfare inspired by real memories of the battle.

The claim that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), which was the main rationale for the 2003 U.S.-led invasion, was later debunked and found to be fabricated or based on flawed intelligence. Extensive investigations by UN weapons inspectors, the Iraq Survey Group, and intelligence agencies concluded that Iraq did not have active WMD stockpiles or ongoing programs at the time of the invasion. Much of the intelligence used to justify the war was either inaccurate, misleading, or selectively presented by policymakers. Saddam Hussein had destroyed much of his WMD arsenal in the 1990s, and no credible evidence was found to support the claims of imminent WMD threats. The invasion proceeded despite these findings, leading to widespread controversy and criticism of the justification for war.
