NARRATOR: This is Haraway, a grand city of invention, prosperity, and peace.

The people of Haraway are creative and industrious, excited about the advancement of science to better their lives and the lives of their families.

[MAN CHUCKLING]

[CAMERA FLASHING]

[ENTHRALLING INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC PLAYING]

DENDRUS: And now, I present to you, the first being ever created by grafting.

Actually grown from parts of plants and animals.

A completely new person, with two hearts!

[LIVELY MUSIC PLAYING]

[CROWD GASPING]

These two hearts allow this unique creature twice the energy, and twice the power.

[CREATURE CHATTERING]

Well, not bad for someone who spends his time gluing fish together.

Hmm. Well, let’s see you do better with your nuts and bolts.

Unlike my esteemed competitor here, my new invention doesn’t need a diaper change to amaze you.

[CROWD LAUGHS]

And now, made entirely with techno-science, the first ever mechanical man, complete with a thinking brain.

[APPLAUDING]

Ladies and gentlemen, I present the future of all science, T-Bolt.

[LEGENDARY MUSIC PLAYING]

[CROWD GASPING]

Don’t be alarmed.

He’s actually quite domesticated.

T-Bolt, sweep the floor.

Now, polish my boots.

Now it’s time for you to get some exercise.

And where would you like him delivered?

You take it. Do whatever you want.

[SIGHING IN DESPAIR]

NARRATOR: As long as anyone could remember, the town had been watched over by the Ancients, as the people called them.

Arbiters of justice, symbols of stability and reason.

All anyone had to do was look up and they were there.

They kept everyone safe.

That is, until the Blight.

[SOMBER MUSIC PLAYING]

The Blight, an invisible plague that rolled over the world, bringing sickness and great loss.

It came and went without warning and people were affected in different ways.

Some got sick, some lost the use of their limbs, and some even died.

The people were divided.

Followers of the Tinkerer became Technocrats.

Those who followed the Grafter dubbed themselves Biotists.

One city became two, and the Blight continued to spread.
